Who hates thier job?

Here's a place where we can all vent about it. Does anyone really hate thier job? Where do you work and what do you hate about it?

At this point, I hate not having a job to hate. Just a little perspective for ya.

jazz

Quite the contrary... I absolutely love my job.. Im a secretary for a cargo trailer dealership, and I do a numerous variety of tasks ranging from customer service to sales tax... and I have the weekends off plus an amazing boss... Thats not to say that I feel like going to work every single day, but you know how that goes...

If I may ask, why the interest? What sort of job do you have, and do you hate it??

Well, I do hate my job. I work in a warehouse that distributes floorcovering. I pretty much do the same thing for 8 hours straight every day. Filling orders and sorting and putting away new inventory. It's all grunt work. But, you gotta do what you gotta do to earn some money I guess.

I'm just curious to see what everyone else thinks of thier jobs....because I know there's gonna be a lot of people out there who probably hate what they do.

I should have read the thread title better! I equate 'job' with what I have as a career. But there is a difference. Your description (and age) relate to me working a job. Not permanent(?), but what you need to do to pay bills right now. Career being something more stable, permanent, and education or training intensive . . . and you tend to know you will 'like' it or you wouldn't go through all the training/education to get there. :shrugs:

I love my job (I teach middle school science) and my hubby just found out what its like to love his job. He, too, used to do the "grunt work." He has had lube jobs, warehouse work, delivered for Dr. Pepper...and now he is a conductor for Canadian Pacific Railway. The job pays well, has great benefits, and the best parts is this: He doesn't pay into Social Security! *We don't have confidence that it'll actually be around when we need it*

I hope you eventually find a job that doesn't feel like work. Where in Illinois are you? Bensonville (Chicago) has a CP terminal...my hubby works out of Portage, Wisconsin.

I love my job, I hate having to be a working mom. I cut out as much as possible to spend time with my son before he is all grown up. However, if it wasn't for the "mom" factor, I'd have no problem working there full time. I'm torn between the two but when it comes down to it, I can work more later, but I can't "rewind" my son. :)

My sentiments exactly!
(Skip the following if my rants annoy you)

I run my own business. I love what I do (Landscaping and gardening) but I hate having to deal with the following:
-Cheapskate customers who don't want to pay what a job is worth.
-People who think they know more than I do, put the wrong plant in the wrong place and then get mad at me when it dies.
-Not having enough work in the winter.
-People who call me and ask 'Is your husband home?' because they assume a woman wouln't have a garden maintenance business.
-No security, medical, dental, or retirement plan.
-Taxes and having to keep records of every penny and where it goes.

I have been trying and trying to find full time work that pays enough to live on. I have great credentials, have studied horticulture in college, have pesticide applicator and other certifications and I'm bilingual yet all I have managed is to gather a nice stack of about 12 rejection slips from jobs I've applied for. It seems every penny I make goes in the gas tank because I've been all over the state trying to find decent work, People keep telling me maybe I am aiming too high but if I'm going to work it's either going to be for myself or for an agency that pays a liveable wage and has benefits and year round work. I hate the temp agencies around here that seem to have a stranglehold on the work force, they make $5 for every hour you work... I just keep trying, but the truth is that I should have never left my nice cushy job I used to have.
/end rant. I just wanted the people who hate their jobs to think a little, you would probably hate the insecurity and frustration of not having work a lot more.

I adore my job, I work at a animal hospital. There's always something to learn and to interact with the animals is a plus.....sure some do not make it but it comes with the job....yeah sure I've been lunged at and almost had my arm taken off but once again it comes with the job.

I love it because there is never time to rest because something is always going on. This year has flown by because of that. The company I work for is great and my boss SPOILS his employees (which is rare) and the sky is the limit, I couldn't imagine doing anything else! and to top it off I'm training for something I never thought possible.

Yeah enough ranting and raving but basically....there's a difference between a job and a career....you love your career and you hate your job =)

Guess I have a job.....It's called carrying my child for another 2 months and then giving birth to them. My other job...I guess is selling our surplus mice and rats as pets, and feeders. Oh man oodles of fun.

My job is quite interesting and i love the concept of it, but hate the working environment and my boss.

I work for a small Scottish company called "Chocmotif". We use patented technology to print high quality images onto chocolate. Monochrome or full colour. A few products witch are totally unique (meaning only this company makes them) are the fully operational chocolate jigsaw, chocolate greetings card and chocolate photograph complete with chocolate frame.

Where i come in is the imagery part :p I work mostly on the computers doing all the digital artwork for the chocolate, editing peoples pictures, coming up with new designs for each occassion etc or just random pieces of art i have done approved by the boss and selling in several art galleries around scotland.

Another part of my job is web design, the site is currently under development atm as we are having a few difficulties at the factory that have help up this process *long story* However it should be fully operation asap.

I also have constant sideline art projects or comissions going on as i like to keep busy. Tattoo design has made me a wack of money over the years, as have painting large murals. I have done many on childrens rooms especially eg underwater scenes, fairy princess castles, anime style characters etc... Some of which i have pictures of... somewhere lol.

I guess you could say im all for the starving artist life, which will be in full swing as of august when i start attending art school.... buh bye crappy job :p

Does living in a fully operational zoo count as a job if you charge guests admission?? :grin01:

I know exactly where Bensenville is. I live in the northwest suburbs. A conductor sounds like such a cool job! And, how'd he get out of paying social security? Is it because it is a Canadian company?

I love my job. i work under the table for a income tax accountant, get that! I just do landscaping and i help her keep the places inside and out clean. the includes from rototilling to dusting file cabnits. yesterday i just went with her and we orgonised storage lockers for 7 hours! i get paid 7 an hour and i just am thankful to have a job, it is soooo hard to find them theese days!

Its not so much the job I hate its the travelling...driving about 3 hous in total a day isnt fun...

I work as an account manager for a pub company... Retailers can be a tad 'lary' at times but i can handle it !!!

I know what you mean about the driving. Traffic is sooo bad where I work. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to and from work each way and I live only 15 miles away! It can be very frustrating.

Railroad employees pay into a retirement program and are "exempt" from paying Social Security Taxes. Basically, the $ we would have paid to SS go to the retirement plan...plus some. My retirement is the same way. I suppose it is because we are both "government employees" (the railway is federally regulated, blah blah blah, I don't know the details).

Hubby said Bensonville is possibly looking to hire 40 more people this year, and you could go to their office to look into it. Bensonville does mostly "yard work." This mean that engineers and conductors move the cars through the yard and build trains for the crews to move. The terminal my husband is at is larger, and his job requires him to take a train from Portage, WI to Bensonville, and then back again. All in all, he is gone from home about 2 days at a time. Yard jobs are daily work, so you wouldn't be away from home as long.

If you are doing "grunt work" now, it wouldn't change much by going to work for the railroad. It is hard work, and you have more responsibility...with one catch: it pays GREAT! The pay is good, the health insurance in wonderful, and no social security. Plus, if you'd ever like to move, you can just put in to transfer to another terminal, and you can have a job waiting for you (St. Paul, Milwaukee, Portage, etc.)

PM me if you like to know more about it...
