Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.
Ha, that looked kinda painful. Snakes aren't terribly stupid but I doubt that was intentional. Now I've seen vids of tortoises purposely opening sliding patio doors. And my Dumerils boa certainly knows where the door to his viv is.
I remember seeing that video earlier. The snake was probably just climbing on the handle, and the weight of the snake is what made the knob move (thus opening the door)
The guy said good job, which leads me to believe the snake has done it before. Accidentally on purpose I'm sure, but still I would want a snake that large roaming around accidentally opening doors....

I agree the snake has done it before. Why else would the owner have a video camera trained on the door? It probably was by accident the first time but quite deliberate after that.
Snakes are smart when it comes to escaping their confines. If you need proof just look at how many threads there are asking how to find a lost snake. It has even been proven that they learn. If you question the veracity of that statement test it for your self. Put a snake in a container that is not escape proof but does take some thought/trial and error to get out of. Time how long it takes them the first time they escape. Then return them to the container without fixing the escape route and time them again. They get faster and faster at getting out. I've tried it and was amazed! It's a good party trick to "teach" your pet for those of you out there with time on your hands.:grin01:
Wow, that snake was like "Nope, done in this room, onto the next!"
They might not be the most intelligent, but they sure are clever at figuring their way around.
I believe snakes are alil more intelligent than people give them credit for. There are TOO MANY WAYS to measure intelligence. We use to think crocks were stupid... Campers found out the hard way that they aren't.
True, I have always considered intelligence and cleverness as separate I guess, due to a lot of people that go "intelligence=complex equations" which snakes probably wouldn't care about even if they were smart enough to do them.
