Wierd Growth in Tank!!!

I recently came back from a turn around trip for the fourth of July and upon my return I noticed an odd growth of something in Neon's corner near his water bowl! (Looked like baby mushrooms, or a fungus growth?)Because he often tips his bowl over and water spills I figured this may be some sort of bacteria or fungus growing as a result of the water and warm environment from me leaving my thermostat on 78 when I leave. I immediately removed him from his vivarium and placed him into a quarantine tank and proceeded to break the entire vivarium down and disinfect and heat treat all of the decorations. I am still in aww of how something like this could have occurred in a matter of 24hours however all of his accessories were cleaned and heat treated and the substrate was IMMEDIATELY replaced. Any idea what this growth could have been? Any encounters of such a thing? Any idea of what i can do to ensure this will NEVER happen again!? In addition, I bought him a bigger heavier bowl so that he can happily burrow under it without tipping it over. Thanks in advance!

It's a mushroom, somehow the spores got into the tank and were very happy with the moist warm environment.
I don't think it will happen again if you get him that bowl that he can't tip over.

BTW any sort of fungal growth HATES white vinegar. I used that on my leather horse tack when everything I cleaned one day and had mold on it the day after I cleaned it! It was summertime and very humid.

White vinegar- what can't it do?!?
That is what I use to clean out my water dishes. It also gets rid of hard water rings.
