will he climb ?

Weird Donkey

AHH c'est bon les patates
im trying to figure out if my cornsnake will climb to get to the top floor of a vivarium, wich will be my hot spot ?

huh...

can you rephrase that?

snakes will climb, yes, but you need to provide something for him/her to climb onto, like drift wood or vines. what kind of enclosure do you have that has multi-levels?

of course im gonna get him bushes to climb on, and im building my own viv

what i wanna do is heat the top of the vivarium only, but will the snake go on the 2nd floor at all, wich will be 18 inch higher

are you gonna use a...

under tank heater or light as a source? if you plan on both i'd recommend putting the under tank heater on the ground level of your enclosure and place the alternate source directly above. i'm sure he'll go to the top if he has easy enough access to it, they enjoy climbing so it shouldn't be an issue. post pictures of your vivarium when it's completed, i'm interested in seeing it. thanks.

I'm sure he will. Mine are always trying to stick thier little noses into every crack and crevice, so I bet he'll find his way up there in no time!

mine are so different. my male likes to hide and curl up, but my female loves to climb and sit as high up as she can.

If you provide something for them to climb on, they will definitely climb. That is one thing about snakes that get loose, look UP on and in things. And once the snake knows where it has to go to get the heat it needs, it will go there without a problem. As long as the heat is the right temp that is.

Good luck. Sounds like your snake is going to have itself a nice big condo. :)

alright, im gonna start the construction tomorow, and order the glass !

floor is blue, hot side orange, cool side green, i dont think i'll need anything else to separate both space since heats supposed to go up. i'll instal the heat pad on the floor of the hot side, and i'll use a lamp with a dimer to keep the temps as right as i can, and i'll vent the cool side if its getting too hot.

its 36x18x36

Just an after thought, My amel is 6-7 months old and it took him 2-3 months before I ever saw him climb anything. Maybe he did when i wasnt looking, but its unlikely. I suppose if yours sensed that the heat was up there, he would be more motivated.
