Dunno if this really counts as advertising since I'm not selling snakes or anything, but I recently offered my help to a member to proofread their website and I thought I would extend the offer to any other breeders who might be interested in an examination or maybe even starting a website. Otherwise if you need someone to consult with about websites (i.e. how do I start a website, where can I go to do this or that, what do you suggest, etc.) I'm you're go-to guy for that.
Anyway, I suppose what proofreading entails is both the text content of your site and also the markup language it's coded with - Websites are often poorly coded and there is always room for improvement. My idea of a good website is that it, most importantly, conforms to web standards so that it looks the same in multiple browsers, and secondly, functions in a fast and efficient manner. So, proper coding is very important in precision and efficiency of your website. Furthermore, good grammar improves your credibility. You'd be surprised how significant an impact a few missing commas and typos might have on your business!
Small resume
I'm currently finishing up a BA degree in German/English/Linguistics and I have some experience teaching. I've been doing web design and management since I was a kid; I've worked for a small Midwestern publishing company that operated three news publications and a school, whose website and server I built from scratch. I'm self-taught and most familiar familiar with HTML/XHTML+CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Apache. I know enough Javascript to do most things and I'm also currently learning Python. I'm familiar with a wide array of programs including Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, but I prefer to type my code out by hand and use open source software when needed.
Anyway, just PM me if you're interested and we'll work from there.
