Wondering if anyone sells frozen toads

I am considering purchasing an Eastern Hognose but I learned they only eat toads so I am wondering if anyone sells or knows of a seller that offers frozen toads.

You're better off looking for an Eastern that has been switched to mice. It's possible. I wouldn't count on switching one yourself, it can be extremely difficult. I was just reading somewhere (here? the hognose yahoo group?) about someone that got a hoggy switched onto FT froglegs for humans...

Health of the Reptile over Convienence

The reason I hearn they only eat toads is because they can't tolerate as much fat and mice have alot more fat than toads. I think that if I got an Eastern it would be much healthier on toads.

I can catch them around my house during the summer and Spring but I am not thrilled at the thought of catching and freezing my own for the fall and winter. (someone told me thats the best way but I and trying to see if I can buy them first.)

The idea that Eastern hoggies can't thrive on mice has been proven untrue.

Unless you are willing to freeze all toads you intend to feed, for a month or longer, you are infesting your snake with parasites. My WC Eastern hoggy had so many different kinds of parasites that she had to be treated with an injectable antihelmentic as well as the usual oral dewormer. Plus, say you find a source of FT toads, or even live toads, now. There is no guarantee that that source is going to be available for the 20 or so years of the snake's lifetime. Maybe you'd consider a nice Western or Tri-color hoggy instead.

If you doubt or think that an animal is going to be difficult feeder plus requires a specialized diet then go else where. I have and owned animals that are specialized feeders and trust me, pass it up. If you can not find toads and it will only eat toads, then you are up a creek with out a paddle or a boat. Plus, if you need to catch your own w/c toads, well those are going to be filled with parasites and that is going to cause problems for you and your pets.

I would by pass the eastern, there are enough western Hognose out there that are willing to eat Mice. I would go that way instead.
