Hey i have 1.3 in a 16 qt sterilite tub. I have had them for about a month now
at first i thought the females were gettin a little plump but there staying around that size. I have them at room temps in my room. I also have a nuther tub with 1.3 but only had them a week so .... my question is is there anything that i can do to get them going ? i figured they were pretty much like rabbits lol maybee I'm just in a hurry hehehe Thanks for any help

Oh yeah and if anyone would getter a better view with some pics i could do that :)

Well whats their lighting like. Their lighting needs to be in a 12:12 cycle like snakes. I got a little plug in timer and plugged in light into it and have it on a 12:12 cycle and their doing fine. If you can put in more that would be great.

Well there lighting is what they get from the windows during the day and the lights on at night till around 9:00 so there getting 14 hrs light right now. What do you suggest i do this is the only room they can be in and it does get some traffic. I do see the male trying a few times here and there just duno if hes succeeding.

LOL Dorfer curse eh, What u have the same prob ?
Yeah, for some reason me and domestic mice just can't get it together :grin01: When they do mate they kill the babies. I'm on my third colony. Here they are, I think the one on the left is pregnant :shrugs:

Sorry, can't help.... mine are in kind of like a shed but only in the first floor of our appartment building, no heat or electricity so the temps and light depends on 1 window along the short side with single, a bit cloudy glass but they do fine...... temps vary between 14-15 degrees celsius (57 F) during very cold nights to about 17-18 degrees celsius (18 F)during mild afternoons right now.... I have 2 litters and 2 pregnant ladies, 100% score for the male!

I have the same problem except I have had mine 5 months. Within the first month I had one litter from my 1.3 in a ten gallon and all but 2 were eaten. Since then there has been nothing, occassionally the females seem plumper than usual, but no babies. I really need some help here. They have probably 18 hours dark per day, is that the problem? Also their cage is in my room so they see me walking around, another problem? Anything will be appreciated!

Also, how many can be kept safely and healthfully in a 10gal? Can I add more if more than 1.3 can be kept in there or will they kill it? Thanks!

I'm afraid to say you may be inflicted with "The Dorfer Curse" :grin01:

Sorry, I think that is Chris' curse.. lol

I like that mouse with patches.. my pet store never gets anything interesting lol

I would defiantly say 18 hours of dark is a problem. a 12:12 cycle is preferable, and ideal. I would say a 1:4 is OK to have in the 10 gal. But I would personally stick with a 1:3 just to be safe. So for you Chris I would say. Get a lamp and have it on a plug in timer for a 12:12 cycle and feed them regularly. As for you walking by a lot it might be a problem, But I have mine in the living room with lamp (days can be real short up here), and their fine.

I think the light cycle is the key. I have had nothing but sucess and my rats and mice are in a room with a skylight. So they have a natural light cycle.
