Wood silicone/sealant

spud

Need more Corns
I am in the middle of putting a wooden viv together and just wanted to know what sealant/silicone i should use to fill the gaps on the inside of the cage were all the wood joins. I need to know if any wood sealant is good as long as it is dried with no fumes, before i put the snake in or is there certain ones i should avoid. I have found one which is for using on wood and it states low theres low fume levels and will dry out in 24 hours without leaving a smell.

What d'ya think?

I'd use a water based sealant and let it dry for quite some time. When I made my wooden vivs, I used a water based sealant and let it dry outside in the summer for a couple of weeks. Probably overkill, but better safe than sorry. You could use an oil based one, but I'd let it dry/cure even longer.

Same thing with silicone - it gives off acetic acid during curing. So make sure you let it cure for a few days.

So long as its all fully cured, shouldn't have any problems.

I used silicone for years on many many cages. It's dry in 24 hours as a rule. There is a residual odor for a few days but after that, you're good to go.
