World record gestation period?

We had two pairings in mid March. Eggs are currently hatching from one of those pairings. We assumed the breeding didn't take with the other pairing. Both girls had a "pre-lay" shed around the same time. Both started actively routing around their tanks. Both were provided with lay boxes. Marley followed the typical protocol and laid a beautiful clutch right around 30-35 days.

Dazzle does not have the appearance of being gravid - but every other week or so she gets really active and completely destroys her tank. So we put the lay box back in -- she'll go in and lay there for a couple days - then she is back out -- seemingly back to normal. Two days ago - she was routing with a vengence. Tank a complete disaster. We removed the sphagnum moss from the lay box and replaced with with a coconut substrate -- this morning we spotted a couple healthy looking eggs! By the time I left for work this morning there were about 6 - can't wait til she is done.

WTH happened? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

so she's like 60 days late for laying? weird! i wonder if she wasn't really ready when she was bred, but was able to store the sperm that long? actually it seems like it would be about the right time for her to be laying a second clutch...do you think either she wasn't bred at the right time or possibly absorbed the eggs from the first clutch, but was able to lay her "second"?

well congratulations on that! very weird indeed.

it is just beginning to sink in for me that with snakes, not everything goes as planned!

had our girl, who lays like CLOCKWORK, decide to lay her clutch while in very deep blue.

and now, we have a ball python female who ovulated 60 days ago and has still not laid her eggs. generally they lay 27 days after the post-ovy shed, but unfortunately Dave missed writing it down on her info card, but i'm almost certain it's been over a month since her shed. so, WHO KNOWS!

i'm thinking your girl probably didn't take the first time and this would have been her second clutch if she had.

I had one that double clutched this year. Unfortunately in her water dish. I was not expecting her to lay at all, there was no prelay shed and she was still eating with her usual excitement. And she hadn't even been with a male in over two months.
