Worried Corn Noob Back Again

Okay, so I've had my 3 foot corn for about a month now. A buddy at work was moving and needed the cash, so I bought it off him after a couple handling sessions. Everything was going really well, added a cave hide on the warm side and he started to become more active. Well, the beginning of this week, I took him out as I normally do; changed his water and realized his pattern and color was much more dark then normal. His underside looked a tad bit milky and his eyes were starting to get hazy. Seeing this as the shedding process, I immediately put him back in his viv. Before I could even get the cover back on, he dipped his head in his water dish and literally sat there drinking ferociously for about a minute....which struck as kinda odd. I left him be and asked his previous owner and a couple of exotic pet friends I know about his actions and appearance and they assured me he was shedding. Up to a couple nights ago, his general color had a heavy grey over-tone (specially around his head and eyes); he looked sickly almost. Today, I changed his water and looked in his log hide to see if he has shed or not, and his color (including his eyes) are back to normal so I started looking for the skin. This is when he struck at me twice (didn't get me) and he wont let me properly replace his hide. Is this the normal process of the shed? It's also about feeding time. Is he hungry? I've already been doubting the size of pre-killed mice I've been giving him. I don't really know what to do and it's been a week since I've had him out. Thank you for taking your time to read this and any advice that could possibly follow.

Yes what your experiencing is the shedding process. They go into what we call "blue" for a few days, this is when the old skin is separating from the new skin. They clear up for a few days and then shed. So you'll find a shed any day. When you take out the shed make sure it sheds both eye caps and the very tip of it's tail, it's very important. Also if you haven't already buy Kathy & Billy Love's book (link bellow) read it cover to cover and it will answer a lot if not all of your 'noob' questions, it did for me.

They will return to clear a couple days after turning cloudy and a couple days before shedding. It doesn't sound like anything you need to worry about.

yeah just like everyone has said he is just shedding and IDK about this corn but my corns still eat even in blue so try feeding him and the food should never be bigger than the biggest part of the snakes body. so thats one way you can tell if he food is to big or not, my 3 1/2 ft corn always eats in blue and she eats large mice or 2 small/med mice, hope this helps you out some
