This is only tangentially related to corn snakes, but I have made the argument elsewhere that boas and pythons have XY chromosomes, not ZW like other snakes including corn snakes. Looks like I have been vindicated! Importantly, this fully explains the inheritance pattern of the banana mutation in ball pythons.
