Well, after going back and forth on the issue of feeding live to my snakes as I have from the beginning to F/T as suggested by many members on here. I did LOTS of research and decided to try out the F/T after reading about the things that could go wrong with the live mice/rats but I was worried that it would be a problem to get my snakes to make the switch.
BUT SURPRISE SUPRISE....YAH!!!! all 8 snakes took them without any issues on the 1st try, like they have been eating F/T from the start.

Thanks to everyone that has been helping me learn lots of new stuff and better ways to care for my snakes to keep them as happy and healthy as possible.:dancer:

That's great, corns are normally so easy to switch over because most just don't care. I remember when I switched mine over they were happier because they could skip the constricting and go straight to eating lol.

Thanks!!!!
Does anyone know if you can get rats F/T as well? I haven't found any at my usual reptile hotspots yet. But, I am still looking:bird:

I know you can get them online. Petco sells them but there price is outrageous on rats.

Congrats!! Way to go and your snakes will thank you for it too cuz now they will be so much safer!!

I am so happy about that, I honestly didn't realize the extreme damage a mouse could cause until it was pointed out to me on here. So I did the research just to see if there was really truth behind it, not just opinions and it made me REALLY appreciate the advice on going to F/T. I don't want to leave my snakes health up to chance and hoping "IT" never happens to me.

This forum has been a God send for me on many issues lately....So THANK YOU to everyone for all the advice and suggestions......
keep them coming!!! :dancer:

Very kewl! Great job switching. KUDOS to you!

IME, even some of the bigger wild ones switch with no problem. I even had ONE Red Racer eat a F/T mouse, but decided against keeping it (SOB!). My W/C kings eat F/T all the time.

I DID have one corn that took some time switching from live pinks to F/T pinks... but even she relented. LOL.

2 of my corns were wild catches (I didn't catch them but the dealers were up front at the time of purchase that they were wild catches)
They were the one's I was most worried about giving me trouble but they went for the F/T faster than the captive bred snakes we have....lol

Tonya, Gourmet Rodent is down in Jonesville, just a little west of Gainesville. It's like a 90 minute drive for you. They have a 100 animal minimum, and if you spend $50 then they drop the $6 box charge. Maybe that's worth the drive, to avoid shipping fees! And then in the future, most of the shows in Florida have frozen feeders, and I've found the mice/rats that Lindsay Pike (uromastyxes) sells for a guy that's never there are REALLY nice. So you could probably make it from show to show, too. Shows are in Orlando and Tampa frequently, and there's one in Jax, too, but I don't know if there are feeders at that one.

I being in Canada can not tell you first hand but I have heard others on here say ordering from RodentPro.com is really good, they come frozen and are quality feeders at a good price, maybe you might want to check it out.
