Yawning snake?

Is it normal for snakes to yawn or perhaps its more stretching their jaw? mine has done this 3 times in the last hour. He's 20 weeks old and due to be fed tomorrow so maybe its just anticipation. He has had a bit of a growth spurt, he's been on fuzzies for 4 weeks and hes definetly longer. He last shed 15 days ago so i dont think its that and everything else is fine including his temps. Hopefully its normal and because he's growing. thanks in advance. Hope this is in the right place.

my old Granite used to do the same thing before it died ... not to get u worried or anything because the vet said that it could just be a thing that the snake like doing ... he had been doin that for a year but increased the times that he did it as he got sicker ... im not sure if it has anything to do with the sickness but unless u can talk to someone who knows what they are talkin about try and see if it is open mouth breathing when it yawns and check for mouth rot if possible.

Some snakes will 'yawn' to realign their jaws after feeding. I also read somewhere that BPs are especially known to 'yawn' for no particular reason. I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen it several times (especially with my BP) and seen no ill effects. :)

Cheers!

He seems absolutely normal and havent seen him do it a lot. he doesnt seem to take a breath when he does it so i dont think its a breathing problem and his mouth is clear inside. He' cruising around his tank as per usual on a thursday night, its feeding time tomorrow. i could swear he knows when its coming. He'll be there in the morning tapping the glass with his nose to get my attention. I think i worried just because i was watching him at the time and noticed it. Thanks for replys.

my boa used to do that all the time...but mainly after he ate...i looked into it and it was because he could have been resetting his jaw after a meal

I've seen my BP "yawn" a bit, as well, but I took him to the vet, and vet said it was just something that BP's smetimes do. Maybe some corns do, to, though I've only seen my corns yawn after feeding to realign their jaws...

Usually, as stated, it's to realign the jaw after feeding, although I've seen mine do it a couple of times for no reason. As long as it's not excessive don't worry about it. If you start noticing it every day or something, come back to us and see if anyone can help out :)

If they keep doing it too often, it could be a sign of an RI (respritory infection). but odds are, its yawning just for the fun of it...I've seen my cornsnake do it numerous times.
