yearling sizes?

Anyone know how long a yearling corn should be? mine is about 9-12 months and is only about a foot and a half....

"Yearlings" can vary greatly in size depending upon multiple factors such as actual hatch date (March versus September for example), size at hatching (6 grams versus 12 grams), feeding frequency (every 5 days versus every 7 days or even longer), size of the meals fed, temporary setbacks such as a regurge, individual genetic growth rate (some are naturally late bloomers), efficiency at digestion/utilization of meals, etc.

I have 2010 hatchlings, my own as well as those produced by others, that range in weights from 16 grams to 92 grams and I've seen larger yearlings.

At 12 months 1 1/2 feet is good, mine is like a foot. Never measured because all I care about is that it eats every week and is healthy. My wife tells me size does not matter. lol

My yearling is sort of on the smaller side, she's 29 inches and 40 grams.
But everybody is right, yearlings do vary greatly in size, I'm sure your snake will grow.
Susan has given the best advice.
What are you feeding it, and do you weigh your snake often?

This is my biggest 2010, Jacinto. I guess he was hatched in the early spring. He weighs 273 grams. He gets fed once a week, an adult mouse, but he'll probably go to every ten days in the winter.

This is my smallest 2010. Mille Fleur was 9 grams when she arrived in September, 2010. She's been a terrific feeder but has had two regurges from being fed while blue, even though I have tried very hard to avoid that. So the resulting regurge protocols with smaller meals, plus being SUPER cautious to never feed her if I even suspect she may be blue has resulted in a slower growth rate. Mill is 75 grams now and eating hoppers every five days.

My 2010 Anery male was hatched in September. He weighs 133 grams and is eating 1 weanling every 7 days. He was a non feeder and was force fed his first meal by the breeder and from then on has been very healthy with no problems.

Nanci, is the lavender you posted the brother of mine? Just curious because he has the same patternless head and I was wondering what masque means haha. Thanks!

Did your male come from John? (There are a few people on here that have sibs...) masque is a recessive gene. A pattern-altering gene.

Her snake did come from John. I remember her swooping him up pretty quick at that show.

Haha, he's just so pretty! Hopefully I'll be able to find a nice girl friend for him sometime in the future!

And thanks Nanci! I had heard the word used before but was unsure of its meaning.
