 I put my snake in her feed bin today and dropped her F/K adult med into her cage with her, she promply curled around it, when I came back from work (around 9 hours later) She was still sitting on it! I waited a half hour, then tried to take her out, she struck at me, so I tried to remove the mouse so I could pour her back into her tank, she struck again and now shes Eating it! is the Mouse too old?!! (she and I had a rough tugofwar witch she won.) HOW old is Too old?! I dont want to make her sick! what will happen?!

I am by no means an expert on this subject but from what I have personally been able to observe over the years...if they eat it, it is still okay with them.

I have had some sit overnight and I have found the mouse/rat to still be "good" while I have found others that have obviously gone bad. It is like us knowing what meat is good and what has gone bad.

I would watch the snake over the next 48 hours be sure it is digesting the meal. She/he should regurge it if is bad.

Good luck!

Thankyou, she seems fine, the lump is already going down, and she is still crusing around her tank, so It must have been fine, I dont know why she sat on it so long. she usually eats them right away. (vary aggressive feeder) this is the first time Ive seen her NOT eat a mouse right away, but then again, Ive started feeding her bigger meals, every 5 or 6 days insted of every 7 or 8 days. (was waiting 2 to 3 days after she Pooed before I fed her again, and there wasent much of a lump after she fed)
