Hey all,

I'm Arby, from the UK. I've always liked snakes, and have recently, through an odd chain of events, bought two hachling corn snakes - a female Hypo called Ammy, and a male Butter Motley called Taka.

They're both quite shy right now - hiding away in their little snake cave (We've only had them for a day, though). Maybe they're shedding?

I think we're doing everything right ^^;. Just reading through all the books and whatnot. Any advice from you experts?

Looks like a nice forum here! *thumbs up*
~Arby.

"only had them for a day" you should really leave then alone for 3 days not bothering them . probley scared new home and all and they will hide during the day time as they are nocturnal feel free to ask questons this is a great forme and welcome

Hi Arby :wavey: welcome to the forum.

I agree with sammythesnake, you should give them about 3 days to settle in. After that I look forward to seeing pics of Ammy and Taka. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask them here. There are lots of helpful people.

Hello Arby Welome to the site , I am from the U.K also and joined only a few weeks ago! I have a 18 week old amel corn who is called severus. Good luck with yours x hayley

sammythesnake - Thanks! And yep, we're not touching them, I've just moved them into the big tank (placed their carrying pots in there, and they left by themselves), and we've been leaving them alone, save for changing their water daily.

Lennycorn - Woahly! A lot of links! Thank-you :) That will help a lot!

Rich in KY - Thanks :). Yep, I'm leaving them, and I'll get pics as soon as they feel brave enough to venture out of their snake cave.

hayley13 - Thanks again! That's cool, it's hard to find people from the UK online, even all the books I've bought are mostly from the US. I think because we don't natively get them here :).

A quick question - I've seen this written a few times:
1.0
1.1.1
2.1
etc... I think it seems to be referring to how many snakes / gender, can someone explain this to me? :D

Hi and Welcome
1.1.1 means 1 male, 1 female and 1 unknown, so you have 1.1 one male and one female.
I would suggest you do a search on this forum of co-habitation, especially since you have a male and female, as it sounds as if you have them in the same viv. susang

susang - Thanks! That makes sense now. And yep, I do have them together. The problem is that everywhere I'm reading different opinions on whether to keep them together or not... Will they at least be ok together for a year or so?

RavenSpirit360 - Thanks! Will do, as soon as they come out, prob in a week or so when we can handle them :).

Thought that I might muscle in here and say hello too :p

I'm Arby's girlfriend *waves* Looking forward to meeting everyone here on the Corn Snake forum! :)
