Zephyr '06 Granite Recently Shed and Progression Pics

I've been pretty absent lately with graduation and then summer travel and now moving to Texas from Illinois and starting grad school, but I'm hoping to get back here more regularly now. Here are a few pics of my '06 female granite a few days after a shed. The next post will show progression pics from November '06 until now.

I really like granites that have red speckling showing through, so I was happy when I was looking through the pics and saw this. Hopefully, more will start to come out with each shed, but who knows?

Don't ask me...

Very pretty it is neat to see the progression pics of how she has changed..Thanks for sharing!!

Woah! So, whats up with that red speckling? Is that paradox? You make it sound like it is somewhat common in granites. That's pretty interesting, I'd like to know more.

Absolutely gorgeous snake by the way. :D

Is Illinois your home state? Although the Midwest doesn't seem like an amazing place to some, and many people underestimate it, I find myself missing my home state of Wisconsin quite often.
I hope Texas works out for you!

Really gorgeous Granite!!! I just love granites! Yours is really one of the nicest I have seen!

Thanks, everyone! I'm very happy with the way she's turning out so far.:)

Thanks, Jessica!

I don't think it's paradox. Although red on an anery might be considered such, but I don't think there's enough for it to be paradox. :shrugs:
I'm not sure how common it actually is. I guess I haven't seen it a lot and haven't really heard other people talk about it. I just remember that my inspiration for wanting a granite was some pics that I saw of some great looking granites that, IIRC, were still relatively dark as adults and had quite a bit of the red speckling (noticeable without a close-up pic). I think those pics were once posted by gardenmum, but I can't find them on the forum anymore. I'll have to check and see if I (by chance) saved them on my computer at home...I would like to try to confirm that I'm not completely crazy and remembering things all wrong :D

Yup, rural Illinois in the middle of all the corn and bean fields is home for me. I agree that the Midwest often gets a bad rap. Since I've moved from one decent sized college town to another where you don't get to see the surrounding landscape often, I hardly notice I'm not in Illinois...except for the heat and the high density of dinner plate-sized belt buckles... :grin01:
I actually visited Wisconsin (Madison) when considering my graduate school options...turned them down in favor of Texas A&M. I swear the fact that I visited in the dead of winter didn't affect my decision :D

:grin01: :grin01: :grin01: Besides the unfavorable weather, how'd you like my hometown? Did you visit the Capitol?

Thanks for the links! Interesting stuff.

Small world, huh? I really liked Madison. It had a certain feel to it that's hard to describe. It seemed really diverse and felt a lot bigger than Champaign-Urbana, which it is, but I still didn't get the feeling I was in a "big city", you know? I was only there a short time (2 days I think) because it was during school, but I really enjoyed what I did get to experience.
I visited the capitol from a distance. The first night I arrived the professor I was there visiting and I walked from campus down towards the capitol on our way to dinner and it was dark so it was all lit up and looked pretty neat, but didn't get a chance to go inside. I still think I may have had a tougher decision to make had I visited in April or May.;)
