Picked up one of these over the weekend. Is there any reason not to keep it inside the tank? The instructions say to keep it outside the tank.... I'm guessin they mean for water tanks?

The wire is pinched real bad by the tank lid when it's closed. Thx.

I keep both digital thermometers (same exact thing but in black) in the viv. Not running wires though this lid makes things so much easier. My snake sometimes uses them to help crawl between his vines. It's all part of the snakey playground.

My guy likes to climb on the wires, but he's heavy enough that he can pull them off. Having the lid holding the wire in place helps provide support for the thermometer to stick in place. Also, helps the snake use it like a vine.

What I do is I pin the probe down with my hide as it keeps my very curious snake from moving it around too much. But I do keep the display outside of the tank just attached with one of those aquarium suction cups.
