need a rack

I need some referrals reliable online sources for buying a rack system for my snake. Ideally it would come prewired and include thermostat/rehostat and everything ready to go.

Displaying our snakes in aquariums was fine when we had 1 or 2, it was even ok when we had 4, but our collection has swollen to 8 now and I've got tanks tucked everywhere... They are set up with screen tops and uth's. Our oldest snake is a 9 year old corn snake, second is an 8 year old ball python. We have a california king snake, a mexican hognose, and 4 other corn snakes. We would really like a single rack that can hold at least 8 fullgrown snakes, but I think the ball python and then hognose will remain in their respective aquariums.
We are looking into trying our hand at breeding some of the corns, I have a lot of shoebox size plastic containers but if succesful we will eventually need to buy a rack for babies too.

So, anyway, I would appreciate some references to good sites to buy from online. We are going to repticon next month and may buy something there, but would like some websites and prices to compare.

Thanks!
Ashley :spinner:

I love my Animal Plastics economy racks. Click HERE

I also bought a hatchling rack from Reptile Basics. Click HERE

Both come with flexwatt heat, but you will need to purchase your thermostat separately.

Also, RB includes shipping in the price.

Thank you very much I appreciate your direct answer :)

I posted the same question on another reptile board and got some pretty nasty responses in reference to my husbandry being outdated and focusing on buying "a lot" of snakes instead of getting a few and taking better care of them... :shrugs:

Now I remember why I enjoyed cornsnakes.com when I bought my first cornsnake 9 years ago :). And Salazar is still a healthy snake, happy if a snake could be happy? I went back and read some of my posts from back then and am amazed at how much I have learned and also appreciative of everyone here who was very patient, helpful, and nonjudgmental.

Looks like animal plastics you have to pay shipping AND buy the tubs separate? Reptile basics seems a little better, but I think the prices at repticon were still better. I might just wait a month and see, but at least I have a general pricing idea to go on.

Yes, you have to pay shipping and buy your own tubs if you go with the AP racks, but they are really nice - all rounded corners, no sharp areas, and not wobbly.

The RB racks include shipping and tubs, but I don't think they make the larger size you're looking for (10 adult-sized bins?)

Sorry that you got slammed for asking a question about racks. There are people here who have a hundred snakes, and as long as they are properly cared for, what business is it of anyone else?

You can also build your own if you're handy. I built some racks out of Melamine, but it's very heavy material, and I ended up selling them after moving a few times.

These are the same ones I was going to recommend!

Also, you're in the same state as C Serpents racks (I think that's how it's spelled) and they are pretty nice, AND they go to all the shows- so you could save shipping.

Racks

Boaphile plastics has some really nice racks, maybe a little more expensive, but excellent quality, and they come with boxes, heat, and thermostats wired in if you want it.

Maybe that's who I saw at the last repticon. We are going next month, I think it is in Tampa again, and I am going to get some online prices and see if I can find a better deal at repticon. :dancer: My husband said maybe we could pre-order online and pick it up AT repticon, but sometimes the ones they bring are cheaper because they don't want to have to take them back.

I feel the same way, as long as you have appropriate temps, size, humidity, then a snake isn't going to care how "pretty" it's enclosure is. Although I will definitely have a few nice displays, there is no way I can display all of them, at least not until I buy a house with a reptile room :crazy02:

We aren't that handy to build our own. We probably could, but honestly I'd rather just buy it already done with the heating and everything ready to go.

Thank you all for the suggestions. :)

Well, I'm super-happy with my Animal Plastics Economy Plastic 66 quart racks, but the wait is long right now. AND anywhere you need to buy your own bins, make sure you HAVE the bins before you pay for the rack! Sterilite discontinues the bin models sometimes, or changes them so they don't fit.

I use the Reptile Basics Iris hatchling rack, with 16 slots, and really like it, but I have to shim it to make it escape-proof. Still- I like it enough to have five and wish I had a couple more...

I ordered my first rack from animal plastics, the economy line for juvies/adults. It'll take 8-10 weeks from when I ordered it for it to be made and shipped. So, quite a long wait time, just to give you a heads up.

I still have to go about ordering a thermostat. Just been lazy on my part. I figure I have time. I looked at boaphile and RB, but I liked animal plastics the most.

Well we wound up displaying them on a book shelf in glass cages. Someone was moving and gave us two huge book cases solid wood, very nice. I am thinking I am going to need racks for our breeding projects though...

I love AP!!! I am gradually in the process of outfitting my entire snake room with AP racks and cages.
Right now, they are at an 8-9 week turn around time.
The quality is definitely worth the wait!

It's too bad you're not close to me, I have a 24 count 6qt hatchling rack and a 6 tall 32/15 juvenile rack(both in black) that I will be selling once I get my replacement racks in about 8 weeks.
I want all white racks/cages, which is why I will be selling the two black ones.
