Anthracite: Freshly Shed MBK

jazzgeek

The Rule Of Thirds.
The title says it all; Anthracite is my '06 female Mexican Black Kingsnake that I picked up at the Tinley expo this past October. She's downing two large pinks per feeding, and she'll be on fuzzies soon. She handles well for a king, that is to say, she only musks and doesn't tag me. ;)

She's two days into her new skin. My apologies for the huge contrast of these two shots, but I'm clearly very Caucasian and she's a Mexican Black Kingsnake, so back off !!!! :grin01:

Enjoy!

cool pics dale........glad she's eating for you. mine is still deciding when to cooperate as he usually refused every other meal which is putting him behind in the growth chart results. and yes, you are a "white-boy". lol

Ah another proud member of the MBK Club here at Cornsnakes.com. ;)
She looks great and I have a pair that are about the same age and they are growing so fast. Is she a live feed or frozen? My 2 are eating well on frozen but some days the boy needs his gecko scented. Its kinda like having salt or pepper on your meal. :shrugs:
I do have a much larger girl though who is a good healthy eater but she wants live only. Its kinda frustrating cause she got nicked a few times by a mouse this last feed. I didnt stun him all the way before I could pull him out, he did his damage.
But enough of me.. that is a pretty gurl.

I NEEEED one of those!

But I can barley house what I have LOL... Shes gorgeous Dale - when you picking up a male!

Very nice, Dale. Of all the kings, I find MBKs to be the most "elegant" looking. I love their pretty faces. I have 1.2 '06s, and the male is a voracious eater of anything I put in front of him. The females are another story... BOTH are now demanding live, and neither shows much interest until the pinks have been suffering in their enclosures for 24-48 hours. Even though I don't like mice, I still don't like this. One has always refused f/t, but the other accepted 21 freakin' f/t before deciding they weren't good enough anymore. :awcrap: I'm glad "Annie" isn't being a p.i.t.a. too.

Maybe it's a girl king thingy... my cali girl wants f/t in a little bowl, placed in at dusk, she eats it the next day in the afternoon.... IF she eats. She is afraid of live pinks though she ate them when she was younger.... those darn little queens! ;)

Dean, have you scented? My boy was like only live but i gecko scented and he started to eat frozen. Every once in awhile he will need his scented now.

She takes F/T, no scenting, no problems. She just prefers to eat with the curtains drawn, so to speak.

Why, thank ya.

This weekend, either at a rave, or if that doesn't work, down by the docks where I'll have to......wait, you meant for the snake, right?

Never mind. :grin01:

I'll confess, when I first had her, I had a HELLA time trying to find her eyes. Given the difference in the head size and scales between corns and kings, and given the natural sheen of MBKs, I was completely at a loss.

Maybe it was all that initial handling that made her calmer than I expected her to be. Then again, maybe I over-reacted to how kings handled compared to corns.

And maybe, just maybe, I'm overthinking the whole dang thing. ;)

jazz

Lovely snake but shouldnt this go in general chit chat? :shrugs:
I got a grilling a while back when I posted pictures of my kings in here by mistake, or has Rich lifted that? :shrugs:
Still doesnt change the fact that its a lovely snake though
