Resident Boa Fanatic
Hey everyone...
For those who keep track(or care :crazy02:) the partnership plan is slowly forming. Meanwhile, I am housing most of the animals for sale, including a rather special individual...

This little fella is a super dwarf reticulated python baby... or more like, 75% super dwarf, 25% dwarf... the sire is a tiger retic at the formidable size of 5 feet hehehe. Since there's a morph involved, it's not a 100% pure SD, but they reach the same size.

Without further ado, the little guy:

Naturally, I have been tagged like 5 times now... but retics are unlike any other snake I came across... he doesn't bite out of fear... it almost looks like I simply piss him off sometimes. The best way to explain it is to tell that when he is being held, and he wants to crawl at a certain direction and you don't let him, he will bite you so that you will let him go to wherever it is he wants to slither... he doesn't show any sort of fear, as you can see in the pictures... he is not too impressed with me, he just makes me aware of what he wishes... odd snakes, these fellas.

Thanks for peeking.

Oren.

I really love the Tigers, and would only own a SD, but like you said, everyone's breeding morphs into them so there still isn't a guarantee as to how big they'll get. Maybe someday I'll see a SD Purple Tiger I have to have....

erm... I dig you, but it's not entirely accurate- you do have quite a big guarantee on size if you know who you are buying from... the dame here is a WC SD, the sire is a super dwarf X dwarf tiger- measuring 5 feet in total... we're talking tiny...and the SD percentage only rises with each generation. Make sure you go to a reputable breeder... and you should be quite fine.

Yeah, but here they're still in F1's and F2's, I think I'll hold out a bit longer, lol... You lucked out, I wouldn't be able to give him up, he's very cool, even as a biter...

Where's here? I know that Bob clark bred the sire...
No worries, sooner or later there will be more available... maybe from us even :p
Again, it really does depend on whether or not I will become a full partner but... there are several 2007 superXdwarf poss het albino... hopefully we will see a tiny albino some day :)

retics are... unique fellas, I am not even sure how much I like'em. I mean... they look unique, but they are fast as heck and possibly over-confident.
As far as temperament and looks goes, I prefer boas...

Oh wow, he is just too darn cute!!!! Those eyeballs get me every time I see a retic (no matter what size).

Sweet!! I've always thought Reticulated Pythons were cool, but have been too intimidated by the size they reach to ever seriously consider owning one. I'll follow this thread with interest! Real good looking little guy you got there :D

Just so you know- he isn't -mine-. Well, if the partnership goes through than I suppose that yes, I will become the owner of several dwarf retics... but there won't be a real progression thread for this fella I don't think :)

He's so adorable! Does it hurt when he bites? I love his eyes. What do you mean, WC? They occur naturally in the wild???

1- at this stage you don't really feel any pain, he does draw blood but... it's not even a prick.

2- super dwarves are naturally occurring, off the mainland there are islands like Jampea and Kayuadi where the retics there naturally grow only -so- big.

With boas it's practically the same- Hog Isle, Corn Isle and so on... it's not a single mutation, but the general trait of the whole locality.

But he is a cute little guy. Thanks for sharing pictures, Oren, I didn't realize the SDs were so little.
