Tub Size for Adult Corn

Hi,

I've read in quite a few places that a 28 qt or 32 qt is sufficient for an adult corn snake, but those tub sizes seem too small. To me, a 41 qt. (34 7/8" L x 16 5/8" W x 6 1/8" H) seems more like the right size. Can someone confirm from their experience, which size is sufficient?

Thanks!

Hey collrak,

A 28 or 32 qt is sufficient for an adult corn snake, but the key word is sufficient. A better size is the 41 qt because it gives the snake more room.

The rack I have now holds 32 qt tubs and an adult corn does fit and has some room but I do plan on getting a 41 qt tub rack because I think my snakes need more room.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks. My snakes are babies right now, so in a year or two, i'm planning to build a rack for 41-qt tubs. Melamine is sooooo heavy though. My rack will end up weighing around 175lbs.... I gotta find out if there are other designs that use lighter materials, but still easy to build.

I have mine in 41qt tubs. I'm a fan of environmental enrichment, it doesn't need to be pretty, but it should be stimulating and somewhat spacious IMHO.

I would say 28qt would work for non-breeders, 32qt at least for breeders, and that a 41qt would be needed for the occasional huge corn that's over 5ft, which seems common in creamsicles and other hybrids. I would also suggest a 41qt for an active corn, since some are active and others aren't.
