That is NOT a Corn...

A few years ago an older gentleman came to my snake room and purchased his first snake, a yearling female Honduran milksnake from me. He has stayed in touch off and on and he travels from Maine to Florida with ALL his snakes. He was up to 22 snakes when he called me last week. This gentleman, now 65 yrs old, has been a rattlesnake wrangler, he has also had big burms and retics over his life time.

He asked Jay and I to come over and sex his snakes and talk some possible business. His animals are all taken care of quite well! Yet, I came across this one in a viv with a Sunglow Motley male and knew right off the bat that it was NOT a corn! Upon finding out he had a hybrid, he asked if Jay wanted it!

I swore I would never own one of these. I have only seen an albino hatchling in person. I was surprised at how bold and bright this girl was. Very sweet to handle and Jay fell for her. If she stays here, she will be a pet only. I have no desire to breed these snakes.

Thought you would enjoy seeing a few photos of her...

She is very pretty!! Just don't tell her she's not a corn, we don't want to give the sweet girl a complex :)

She is a real sweetie Beth!

Now I have to have to decide where she will be shelved....

on the female corn rack... :nope:

with the kings...:nope:

I just made a milksnake rack (that's for another thread) but they are all huge except three. I guess I have to add a new shelf to the empty baker's rack just for milks as well.

So where do I house her once she passes quarantine  :shrugs:

*my* house...? ;)

Congrats. Are you sure she's not an Eastern Milksnake? They're kinda corny looking to begin with. Just a recommendation.

First off, I have not personally seen too many hybrids to know what the heck I am looking at! :roflmao: With that said, I only know that she is NOT a corn! Or at least a 100% corn. I am thinking a king x corn :shrugs:

My door is always open to hybrids....she looks grey band/corn?

Good idea hun!

That was my first thought too.. LOL
She's a gorgeous girl PJ..

Thank you Gene!

I have seen a few Eastern Milks from Maine and New Hampshire and she would be a great example if she is. Yet, Brent, you could be right! :)

I am not sure how I would come to know her true genetic makeup or if I even want to do those types of test breedings. She is pretty and a sweetie to handle. For now she is just a pet. One that I will have out with other snakes just in case she has a taste for snakies.

Looks like a pure Eastern Milk Snake. I'm not sure what the man said, but it definitely looks like an Eastern Milk Snake to me.

There are several people who work with the smaller to medium sized milk snakes that breed Easterns in small quantities. It helps when there has been an increase in demand in the last couple years. There are also albino Easterns that are entering a couple breeding programs.

Believe me, I am no expert....but when I first saw her picture, something in my head whispered " now doesn't that snake look an awful lot like an eastern milk that someone on here had?"
