OMG We Hatched A Two-Headed Snake...

Buzzard

two corny
OMG!!! I (Jamie) am FREAKING OUT!! Buzz (Buzzard) is at work and look what is coming out of this egg - yes, it has 2 heads and a joined body. I am shaking as I type this. In all my years in husbandry and now as a biologist I have not seen this except in pictures - I promise this is real, I just took this really bad picture :) Boy, will Buzz be excited and surprised when he gets home :)

PS - I guess now we live up to our name "2 Corny" :)

Congrats!!! Truly an incredible event!!! I also Hope that it grows and thrives!!!

Wow, that's so cool! Is there some misshapen about one of the heads or is it just the angle?

You'll have to figure out which head to feed. :D

I am trying not to bother it too much but you have to admit 2 heads coming out of an egg would freak anyone out (and I had a bad experience at a Ripley's Museum as a kid) :) - It still has a little yolk in the egg so I am not going to disturb it until Buzz gets home - the head on the left appears to be fully developed and functional (tongue flicks) but the head on the right appears to have some development issues with its palate. Buzz and I promise to keep you guys updated and fingers crossed for this little guy/gal's development.

Oh my gosh, that's amazing! I hope the little one with the development issues with it's palate ends up okay and these "two" grow and thrive into a healthy adult(s). Looking forward to the updates, sending lots of positive thoughts for this little one(s).

WOW Guys!!!! That is AWESOME!! Hope it does well for you!!

CONGRATS !!!!!:dancer:

Todd

Well I am home, and Holy Mackerel ... This is so cool. So we are reading up on everything we can about two headed snakes.... Thank you all for the well wishes ... Now I am freaking out ....lol

Oh my goodness!!! How awesome is that! I wonder how completely their internal organs are fused?! HOW NEATO!!

KINKs :(

So it is out of the egg and there is real bad news. It has MAJOR kinks, 2 almost 90 degree kinks and a little tail kink. It still has a little egg yolk so it is on a wet paper towel and in a deli cup, in the incubator.

Updated Pics

Man, that is a spirit breaker. The one head looks so alert and ready to roll, but those kinks seem to seal it's bad luck deal.

I am really sorry it turned out like that. :(

Ah, poor thing.

Thanks Tavia

It does break our spirit but we are not given up right away. We would like an X-ray/ultra sound to see if it could pass anything through its major kinks, however we do not want it to suffer either.

Hey Buzz it was good to see you and Jamie today as always. Sorry to hear about the baby.

Great to see you guys today too. I hope you guys did well... :)

I am sorry to hear it is so deformed. I hope by some miracle it might still be able to live like that but I do have to say I would be worrying about the quality of life it would have. I wish there had been a better outcome for you guys.

Thank you Jenn,

That is exactly what we are worried about too. :(

I'm just glad I have found such a collection of breeders that truly care about the quality of life their animals experience. Keep us posted on the X-rays!
