Lee Abbott Okeetee from Daytona 05 Show

I didn't make it to the show until Sunday, so I don't know whether I could have found a nicer female if I had arrived earlier... but I'm pretty happy with this one.

The first photo was taken as soon as I brought her home, the next photo about 2 months later, and the last 2 photos were taken tonight. She is not aggressive and eats very well.

Thanks. I wanted thick black borders and 'normal looking' saddles - not too banded or aberrant - and that's pretty much what she is. If anybody wants an Abbott Okeetee, I'd try to get one directly from him at a show. All of his Okeetee babies were priced at $50. Others are selling 'Abott line' for $75 or more (kind of hard to believe.)

omg...BEAUTIFUL!! just beautiful.

Anyone travelling to Canada in the near future..maybe wanna snuggle me an Abbott's???

Is there a way to get a hold of this fella..email??? Maybe he knows someone..that knows someone.

*sigh, easier said than done for those of us on the west coast.

She's gorgeous, looks to be shading in very nicely. Good luck with that beauty!

Just had to add to the positive comments. She's superb. Okeetees are probably my favorite corn snake type, and that one is a great example.

She weighs about 79 or 80 grams, and I think she was born around July. I was curious, after reading some of the other threads about growth rates, XXXL snakes, etc. I feed her every 3 to 5 days, generally. Only one prey item at a time. She easily handles hoppers now. I don't think she's ever refused a meal, and she ate a rat pinky the one time I recently tried. At the rate she's growing, I think she'll be pretty big. Many Okeetees don't start showing much orange until they are a lot older than she is, so I do think she'll be a colorful snake. You can't see it too well from those photos, but she has the bright yellow around the neck area. She's probably ready for more like a small adult mouse. I started feeding her fuzzies about a week after I got her - no messing around with pinkies. Once they are 14 or 15 inches, they seem to be handle fuzzies with no problem, in my experience. And as many have noted, they seem to grow faster on fuzzies vs. pinkies.

That's a gorgeous snake! I gotta admit, I felt a wee stab of envy when I saw those thick thick black borders! Congratulations.

I love that okeetee. I have one coming this breeding season & just can't wait. I love when they are so crisp & clean. The only thing better is if maybe they were banded which I personally would find neat :D

Nice snake! But what I really like is the idea I got from your picture on how to photograph small snakes. Just keep them in a clear deli cup!

:::jaw drop:::

that snake is bigger then my 04's... how do you people do it??? all but one of my snakes are freakin tiny...am i not feeding large enough food items...?
