Corn snakes illegal in what states?

I am in the early early stages of planning a move down south. My cousins live outside of Charlotte NC and are trying to get me to move to North Carolina, and one of the things that occured to me was some states dont allow you to own corn snakes...and I have no idea what they are.

Can someone tell me what the states are? And what ones have weird laws about what kind of corns you can own....I know Jersey only allows amels right?

I think you'd find it easier to just look up the laws at your destination.

I know NJ has laws agains corns with black eyes as they don't naturally occur as such there but the red eyed corns are legal (could be the opposite)

Just stay away from Georgia!! The only legal way to keep one there is to get an education permit - if you are a teacher.

As far as I know, the other states will at least let you get them with permits, or you don't even need permits. I have sold corns at the Raleigh show, and all I needed was a free importation permit to sell within NC. I think maybe SC doesn't restrict them at all. But rules change - be sure to check for yourself if you get serious about a particular state.

The rule with NJ is yes, only the red eyed snakes. As they figure they wouldn't survive in the wild. Given that the cornsnake is endangered here in NJ which is the northern most reach of their habitats.

I only asked about NJ because I have to drive through it. I dont want to get stopped and have my collection confiscated on the way down.

Good to know about NC. Thats where I have my heart set on...Im going down in a few weeks to start looking at homes. :dancer:

The "red eye" style regs/laws typically have more to do with preventing people from collecting snakes from the wild and SAYING they were CB than worrying about what can or can't survive in the wild.

:rofl::rofl:

I can guarantee you that no cop in NJ is aware that corn snakes are illegal, nor would anyone attempt to confiscate them from you while passing through.

There are many, many people in NJ who own black eyed morphs, and there are many people in GA who own corns.

LIES AND SLANDER I WON'T HAVE ANY OF IT....:grabbit:

But yeah the thing you're likely to get pulled over right now is talking on your cell phone, they just made it a primary offense and they're pulling over anyone they can for it.

Don't get stop! but you only have the ghost and okeetee to worry about.

This is the best thing to do.

They are "endangered" because we are developing all of there natural habitat

I'm well aware of that...

That wasn't directed at you. And I didn't mean for it to be written like it had an attitude, but it came off that way, huh!.

Jersey laws, permits and taxes. Perfect together...NOT!!!!!

Justine is doing the best thing by moving to North Carolina. A lot of folks are doing that I hear.
When my kids move out, I might go too.

We should change the garden state signs.
Welcome to New Jersey where everything you want to do is illegal.

When I woke up this morning and stepped outside, and saw some sort of animal body parts hanging from my neighbors clothesline, I knew it was right too :)

Im tired of not being able to communicate with people in my neighbor, so Im outta here.

WELL..... if you live near some hunters, you might have that down there too.:shrugs: but over, all for us in NJ that the place to go.

The Beverly Hillbillies just came to mind.

Yeah when I moved to ocean county, my mom had an experience where she was driving out from princeton to the house and saw a deer hanging dead upside down from a porch bleeding....I'm glad I was not with her at the time.

Yes but my home is a ATTACHED.

Slightly too close for comfort, especially if I can smell it.
