Smells Like a Rat
Soooooo, a new store opened up near by house, specializing in fish and reptiles. Of course, I had to stop by. The owner was really cool and took me back to see the snakes, letting me handle some hatchling corns and Texas rats.

Then he was like, "Oh, you'll love this guy. This is Casper," and he hands me a big albino BCI. So I take him, and he's just hanging out and then WAM.... he decided I looked tasty. :grin01: I didn't move because I knew that would just make it worse, and after about 30 seconds he released after chewing once.

So um... yeah, that hurts... LOL! He was around 7 ft... not a little boy, lol. The shop owner felt SO BAD. He was like, "He never bites! I can't believe that!" and he kept apologizing and said he was sure I'll never come back. Which I will... The poor man was totally traumatized, but I told him I had to come back to make up with Casper!

My hand is way more bruised now already and very tender...

Welcome to the Boa Bite Club!!

That's a good one...it's going to be sore and bruised for sure. Hopefully there are no teeth in those holes.

Keep it clean...just a word to the wise.

Seems like sound advice to me! I don't think there are any teeth... he disengaged himself and did so pretty carefully, but is there anyway I can check for teeth BEFORE infection sets in?

Kinda feels like having tiny pieces of fiberglass in your hand. Run your fingers over the bite lightly and if there is any teeth in there, you will feel it.

Wash it out, maybe a light coating of triple antibiotic cream for tonight.

OK, no pricklies that I can feel. :)

I washed it out at the shop with antibacterial soap, and I will put some antibiotic cream on tonight! Thanks!

Ow! I hope that doesn't mean Casper has to go into solitary confinement now...

Yeah...poor guy might get grounded! Its good that if Casper was going to bite someone, it was someone who is in the know about snakes and such. I'd immagine you were much calmer (and nicer) about it than if you were someone who'd not had any experiance with snakes... I understand the poor guy's reaction. That would be a scary event for a pet store owner!! (although I bet having your hand in a 7ft boa's mouth wasn't comfortable)

That truly is a bite club bite! wow. I'm glad you're ok!

Nice! Very impressive reach that big boy has--that mouth of his must be huge!

I'll BET the store owner was traumatized--he's probably expecting a big ol' lawsuit!

Did you touch any furry animals before you handled him? We need pics of Casper! Go Back!!!

Yes, Nanci! That's exactly the problem... my dog was nearby! Once the shopkeeper and I realized that, we were both like, "Oh MAN, was that stupid!!!!" :headbang: Not Casper's fault AT all.

He's really a nice boy, he even spit me out when I wasn't furry... :grin01:

I will be going back for sure... in fact... I MIGHT even ask if he needs help for the summer!

Did you threaten your boyfriend with scenting him like a mouse without telling him? I would have. But then again, maybe this is why I'm single. Lol.

Now THAT is a bite! Awesome! At least you remembered to take pics, I never have one nearby when I get tagged. Im always more traumatized by no camera than the bite itself LOL.

Thank you Emily, you have made my day and, of course, you know why. LOL
Terri:dgrin:

PS- As for finding those broken teethie things in a bite wound, (yeah I'm gonna regret this next statement) I find the sensitive tip of my tongue to be a perfect detector. Go away have fun with it....
