'06 Normal "Caesar": Set 1

nycflip22

I want another Corn snake
Hey guys, this is my first snake which is a normal corn snake which I named Caesar. I got it on the 22nd. The other pics didn't come out well and these pics seem a little better. :wavey:

Right now Caesar is about 14". I'm not exactly sure how old he is..

I'm at my dorm room and snakes aren't allowed. Hopefully, it'll be on the low and no one finds out.

Questions:
What are those numbers in peoples' sigs.. .01.1 or w/e?

How could I tell the gender? I keep referring to it as a male.

Nice looking snake. He looks like he may have the saddle-borders and color potential to be considered "Okeetee-Phase" or "Lookeetee" when he's older. It's difficult to visually identify gender on a snake that young. Unless you know how to probe or pop, you'd probably have to go to a herp vet.

Is he really an '06? I'll bet that he was actually hatched in '05, which would make him... an '05. And that couch exploration could be a recipe for disaster. I wouldn't let a snake that size out of my hands, if he's out of his viv. What's your backup plan if the RAs discover him, and kick him out? Just curious. :)

thanks. Yea, i'm not good with colors lol. Hopefully i'll find out when he's older.

It might've hatched in December; not too sure. But I'll just refer to it as an '06 since it's close enough.

I didn't really let it explore around my couch, I just put it there so that I could take pics. I don't let it get anywhere out of my sight.

:( I guess I'd have to bring it back home.

He/She is pretty. The numbers you see mean male/female/unsexed. If you see 1.5.8 amels, it means someone has 1 male, 5 females, and 8 amels.

And if you got him from a pet store, more than likely he is a he. More males go out to pet stores. You can try to find someone in your area to sex him for you.

Very nice snake, he might be kinda hard to hide as he get larger :grin01: they tend to grow at a good rate....

Pretty snake. I would just call it an 05. I'm not aware of anything hatching out yet :D

He's nice & dark, he's going to be a real stunner when he's older.

He dose look like he will be a nice colored adult. I need to get one of those :) lol.

You omitted 'unsexed' in your example.
1.5.8 amels = 1 male, 5 males, and 8 unsexed/unknown gender amels.
Simple omission, good explanation though. :)

LOL...I edited it and accidently erased more than I meant to! I was at work and was about to head back from lunch...I was rushing a bit! Thanks for catching my goof! :)

Thanks guys. I guess it is a male since I bought it at Petco. I want another one so I will look for a female and raise that so that eventually i could breed it..I have to read up on breeding.

You'd be better off trying to find someone to sex it for you. Just because it is more likely to be a male...doesn't mean it definitely is ;)

What are the characteristics of a Lookeetee or Okeetee? and a Normal? What's a saddle-border.

The photo here will show you what an Okeetee looks like versus a Normal. Okeetee Phase or Lookeetee means it has the look of an Okeetee (ex. thick borders)but isn't from Jasper County where real Okeetees are found . Hope I'm not to confusing and I hope I got that right  . The saddles are the red blotches on the back and the saddle borders are the borders of the blotches. Ok, too much thinking for the middle of the night

oo, i see the debate now, thanks. Poop, I just have a normal that could be considered Lookeetee..Maybe when my snake is older, i'll get to call it something cool like a Lookeetee/Okeetee Phase.
I want a Blizzard, Ghost or maybe Sunkissed female next :)

I just got taken by how docile my normal was. He also seemed a lot more calm than the other corns. I love his personality and i haven't even had him for a week.

You don't need to use "Phase" when referring to Abbott's, do you? They are derived from locality corns. Same goes for Kathy Love's Okeetees.
Shows how much research I've done into their bloodlines ;)

Congrats on the new snake! I really like the decoration in the tank! Make sure that doesnt fall over on him though.
