1.1 Extreme RO Tess Pickup

King Cornelius

Extreme RC Everything!
So I picked up 1.1 ERO Tess from some breeder ...Roylance, something?
Never heard of him before but I figured what the hell, i'll snatch up these two "ugly ducklings" that no one wanted.

The male is not as "extreme" as my girl, but I picked him out because of something most ppl overlook. I notice that most "Okeetee phase" corns dont have the black in the crown AND framing the markings in the crown. (Even less with Tesseras). Markings gradually fade around the neck and dissapear by the time it reaches the head area. The rare few that do have the heavy border in the crown IMO make for a more attractive snake.

Comparative shot of my ERO Tess and one of Steve's RO Tess.
Border is almost double the size. Had a chat with Joe Pierce about reproducing "extreme" animals and what he explained to me rings true from what I see. "Tesseras" have a border limit of 1 1/2 scale widths at its most extreme. Ill illustrate this better with the females pics.

I'm admittedly a huge Amel hater... reformed after seeing these two. I have NEVER seen a Tessera pack in borders this heavy. That being said, If I have her.... I'd imagine Steve has a sibling tucked away that makes her look "borderless" by comparison. lol

Macro shots of the 1 1/2 scale limit along that center stripe. A good marker for determining the better of two "extreme" snakes I would think.

Anything that appears wider than that would be because it comes from the sides migrating in the opposite direction.... blocking out the ground color. If that makes any sense. lol

I feel like you and I have similar tastes.

I definitely want to pick up one of these next year. I acquired two very nice extreme ultramel okeetees this year from someone who paired an extreme okeetee het amel to an ultramel okeetee.

I have an extreme ultramel okeetee from Steve and an Abbott ultramel okeetee from Walter. Their coloration is very different. The two extreme ultramels I just acquired look like Walter's Abbott ultramels, with thicker borders, instead of like Steve's extreme ultramels. I'd really like to see them in tessera form!

I agree with you 100%.... Ultramel Okee Tesseras would be bananas! I want to work with Ultramel at some point too!

Vomitel anyone? :p :puke02:

I'm with you, I'm VERY selective about Ameanistics and honestly Tesserras as well. This pair is outrageous though! May just make a believer out of me yet. I look forward to seeing progression pics.

Thanx Jess, I needed a good starting point for my "tess projects" and these two fit the bill.

Found another good example of that scale limit in Tesseras. 1 1/2 scales is the limit for border width in tesseras. Non-Tess animals on the other hand can completely fill up the saddles with borders. Sorry if this is old news, I just find it interesting to note. :poke:
