125 gallon too much?

I use these lids on almost all my tanks....

The company's name is Four Paws; but I think they may have gone out of business. Very few stores carry this product anymore. Might be easier to buy them from someone getting out of the hobby and wanting to sell accessories.

:santa:

I just wanted to mention that aspen would actually be much more convenient for you than the astroturf bedding. The aspen provides more hiding opportunities for the snakes (good for them, not so much for you lol) and will actually be easier to clean in the long run. I only spot clean aspen once a week (mostly because when my adults poop I know it!) but only do a full cleaning every couple months. The astroturf collects bacteria and it can start smelling if not cleaned often enough. Mold and such can also grow underneath the mat. You would probably have to clean it more often than aspen. IMO aspen is more aesthetically pleasing than the carpet anyway. And probably cheaper!

Otherwise, it sounds like you would have fun with such a huge habitat for your snakes! I look forward to seeing the finished product, with inhabitants! :)

I'm only finding the lids in 10 & 20 gallon sizes, so that won't do.... I'm thinking that I may have to make my own tops... and locks. I'm pretty crafty. I can probably do it with some of the spare window screens that I have out in the garage, a few hinges and locks for each one.... so we shall see what I can come up with... I think I am going to go with the aspen too.... I'll just have to buy a step stool or something :p

Are you too short...LOL?

Seriously, before I went to smaller tanks and the plastic, locking lids, I used to make my own tops. By the time you get the wood and screen all put together, the lid will be fairly heavy and won't need much weight to hold it in place. Also, if you make it so that it fits in snug, it'll be really hard for an even large snake to move it up and down. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm a whopping 5' 3".... the lip of the tank is at my shoulders. lol... Definately need a step something.... hehe. I'm not exactly the most graceful person either.... I might have kinda almost fallen into the tank a couple of weeks ago... full of water.... I ran and jumped in the shower so the man couldn't make fun of me when he asked why I was all wet!

There is still a four paws in Mesa.

Unfortunately, you are probably not going to find anything that big. I have a 100gal and 125 gal that I have divided. I used peg board to make a lid with cam locks like these on one http://www.amazon.com/Non-Locking-Thumb-Turn-Econo-Lock/dp/B003YJPMVG and on the other my husband fabraciated locks for me. But yes I would recommend separate lids. It is very nice to just open one side and leave it open till you are ready to put the snake back in.

You know I will get back to you on that one. I know that it was there a couple months ago when I drove by but I can't be 100% that they are still there and when I was looking on the website it looks like they no longer carry reptile stuff. So I will have to stop by and see before I send you on a wild goose chase. I know that the girl that replaced me at the animal hospital when I had a baby was working there part time but that baby is now 3. It is/was :) just down the street from my daughters school.

There's a company called Four Paws that's just a supplier for cats and dogs. Maybe that's what you heard about?? Thanks....

:dancer:

WOW. That would make an amazing habitat. But Astro turf needs to be cleaned every week, Aspen is the best bedding because you can spot clean it. Why not divide the tank into 3 parts and get three snakes????
Best Wishes!!!

Psh split that baby in half and have 2 62 gallon tanks! still make an amazing habitat and u can still build it multi level!
