3 Pinkies vs. Small Fuzzie

New member
My cornsnake is currently 26g and I have 12 frozen pinkies left.

I am following Munson's plan and according to a 24-30g snake, it should be fed a small fuzzie. Since I don't want to put my pinkies to waste (I have no other snakes to feed), should I go ahead and feed him 3 pinkies? Please let me know what you think.

Thanks guys!

3 pinkies is a lot... since you have some to use up, I would use those up at 2 at a time and then move to the next size :) but thats just mho :)

I weighed the 3 pinkies and they weighed 7 grams, the same as one small fuzzie and he ate them all just fine. I'll see how he does over the next couple days.

i would also have said to do 2 pinkies at a time, 3 pinkies is a lot to handle... lengthwise, not just in terms of weight. so hopefully the snake does alright with this. good luck!

2 at a time would be best.
3 would take up too much space.
Believe me, I fed 2 at the wrong time and now it is banned from eating for 10 days.

Weight isn't as important as the fact that you are feeding multiple items and each one gives you another chance for one or all to regrunge. I would highly recommend that you stick with only 2 at a time and move up once those pinkies are gone.

The Munson Plan is NOT something set in stone and you have to look at your snake and adjust it accordingly. I'd not recommend putting your snake at risk because of it or any other feeding program. On the other hand, It will NOT harm your snake in any way whatsoever to wait until the pinkies are gone before moving it up to fuzzies.

The way I got rid of my pinkies (actually I bought more snakes...but before that!) When my snake bumped up to what should have been larger fuzzies, and I still had these pitiful small ones I would feed a fuzzy and a pinkie.

i dont know.. Ive seen alot of fuzzies that are the exact same size as pinkys, i think it really depends on the mice colonys.
but i would stick to 2 dont go over board

i know it is bad, but i feed my small one 4 pinkies right now, he handles them with gusto and i have never had a regurge, but mine may be one of a kind(feeding wise)

and i know how annoying it is to get rid of pinkies when u dont use them, i have 20 left

It's going to cost you more replacing a dead corn snake, than replacing your pinkeys, id follow the advice you'v been given.

I ask this because I dont know.
a corn snake in the wild comes upon pinkies so it only picks one out to eat and leave the rest ? and leaves hungry ?

When they gorge themselves then they don't eat for even longer than normal.
When we feed them tons of food we still feed them the same amount of days in between, and we bug them in the meanwhile.
