I have A 30 gal tank with a small hole and she's got out tree times,I do not know what I should plug it with that is guleable to the tank.I tryed a book but she pushed it right off.:(
should I just use shoe glue and a sqare piece of wood.Or should I get a new top,the top that I have now is a sliding top.
awsers would be great.:(

thank, Anisnake

First of all, a 20 gal long is the biggest you should go with a baby corn.

Use something non-toxic to plug the hole. Hot glue from a glue gun works well.

a 30 gallon is great for a baby as long you have alot of hids and stuff to hide the baby. A pic of the hole would be great to help you with getting it fixed

Try stopping up the hole with a glob of Blu Tack. It's the only sticky stuff I've found that won't stick to the snake, and you can mould it into whatever shape you need. It'll dry out and need replacing occasionally, so keep checking it.

We don't need a picture of *you*, just that area of the tank with the hole so we can see if a fix can be made, or if you need to get an entirely new lid.

Put the snake in something smaller, like a shoebox size Tupperware container with very small air holes drilled into it, and keep that inside the 30 gal for now. Once you've plugged the hole, and your baby is bigger, you can put it back in the 30 gal tank. For now, I would just find something a little smaller and more secure.

You really did not think this through when you got her, did you..?

Could you not go to the storage aisle in Walmart and buy a cheap 97 cent 6 quart plastic shoe box to put her in?

Be nice....

You could put a piece of OSB or plywood (that is a little bit bigger than the hole) on each side of the hole and use wood glue to glue the pieces together (After the glue dries, it won't hurt anything)... But this will only work if it is thin plastic

A picture of the hole would make this easier though

Not trying to be a jerk here, but the confusion about him putting a pic up and his parents making sure he diden't put a pic of himself up made me laugh (and gave away his age) ... Seems like this could have been avoided with some parental intervention lol

I second getting a rubbermaid tube, you can get one very inexpensively for a couple bucks from walmart. Punch some airholes in it and when you find her it'll prevent her from escaping again. This way she can get some size on her before putting her into the 30g again.

Personally, I come here to learn and, where I can, to help everyone - the young and inexperienced included. We all started out once.

Personally, I think if a KID wants ANY pet, the parents need to be doing the research and helping their kids, or things like this happen.

You cannot put the snake back in that tank. It is not safe. You need to either buy a Sterilite or even better a 10 or 20 gallon glass viv with a sliding, locking lid.

Hey Bitsy,

I totality agree with you but no one but this kids parents can make him put that snake into a plastic tub so that it will not be able to escape again. The kid has already shown that he needs "some parental intervention" for the snakes sake alone. He has already let it escape twice if I read the posts correctly.

But that is just my 2 cents.

Love the Fatman
