Found this Hypo laying a nice clutch

When she was done I pulled her off of the eggs and HOLY.......

I have never even heard of a 35 egg Corn clutch with no slugs.

Well here's one

This Hypo is the matriarch of my Ghost line. She's an 8 yr old girl and this is her 6th breeding season. The most I have ever gotten out of her was last year when she gave 24 eggs.

I bred her to the same male Snow that I have always bred her to.

WOW! Speechless... that's is an incredible clutch Justin! Congrats- Look forward to seeing the pips!

Congrats on such a beautiful clutch. That is very impressive to have produced such a large and perfect clutch. Kudos!!!

I know, you said that in your previous post...I was wondering if there was some backround, or reason why "slug" is the term of choice ;).

I don't know why infertile eggs are called that. I wonder if it has something to do with you know how you can have a chunk of lead that you can shoot but it isn't a bullet? Or- I know, you know how you can have a piece of fake money- just a coin-shaped piece of metal? That's called a slug. Or, looking at a dictionary, it can also mean a lump of glass or metal, waiting for further processing.

I guess you never know. I just thought there would be some kind of logic behind it, but from looking around other places...it seems like nobody has a good handle on why that is the word of choice haha.

Maybe it's something about being... not quite? Do you get what I'm saying? Something that you can shoot, but it's not quite a bullet? A coin shaped piece of metal, but it's not quite that coin? A lump of glass or metal that's not quite done yet? An egg that isn't quite an egg?
