4th Clutch Has Pipped! (Includes 1 Graffic Picture)

Jay@PJCReptiles

"Quality Before Quantity"
Hi Everyone,
Our fourth Cornsnake clutch of the year has pipped. This was a pairing between a Normal het Sunkissed, Anery, Motley x Normal Het Sunkissed, Anery, Motley. These were the parents that produced the pair of Sunkissed Motley for us last year. We did not get any of those this year unfortunately. There were plenty of Normal and Anery in this clutch, more then last year. We only got 2 Sunkissed + 1 deformed in this years clutch and no Motley at all. Go figure. :shrugs: One of the Sunkissed has some very thick borders. I can't wait to see this one when it sheds. We did get something a little extra special this year but that will be in a separate post. Here are a couple of pictures of the pippies including the deformed one. Thanks for looking and I hope you like.
Jay

Congrats on the clutch again Jay, that little sunkissed in the first picture is absolutely gorgeous. Sorry to hear about the deformed little guy, always makes me sad when I see those. =(

Now where's that other thread, you know I'm sitting over here on pins and needles! lol

Thanks Brent. Yes they do have white cheeks. That was one of the very first things I looked for. Strange, very strange indeed. :shrugs: ;)

Hey yeah, I remmeber browsing through that thread where you were talking bout the white cheeks...

What about the funky white that was creeping up on the sides of the ones from last year's clutch? Do the sunkisseds have any of that going on this year?

The Sunkissed Motleys are the only ones that are showing this trait. It is very different then "pied" as it seems to be more of a precise pattern/coloration coming up from the sub-scales and not a random effect that "pied" seems to have. I think the deformed one in the picture may have been a Sunkissed Motley. If you look real close you can see some of the "white" starting down the length of the neck. Jeff Mohr hatched out a Sunkissed Motley this year. I will ask him if his shows these traits as well. Would be nice to know, especially coming from two different lines. Does the Sunkissed "X" that you and Tim got last year show any of these tendencies? If so, I would like to see. There might be something with this "white cheeks" thing. The ones Brent has have perfect outlines/borders to his where the Sunkissed Motleys that I have don't have as much as a border but still express this high white effect. Might be worth looking into. Who knows? :shrugs:

I'll have to look at our girl, I can't remember if she's got the white cheeks or not, though now that you mention it I'm pretty certain she does and none of the white creeping up onto her sides. I'll have to get more pics of them anyway, tomorrow when Tim doesn't have the camera.

Congrats Jay. I wonder what sunkissed is doing on the protien level. It does so may wierd things at once, and since its one gene I figured those things would be somewhat related, but they aren't, really. :shrugs:

Hey Jay, I checked Calypso out while she was eating tonight and she does have the white cheeks, not quite as defined as some of the other ones that were posted, but definitely white. She also has a bit of white creeping up on her sides, but it's just the smallest bit.

Here's the links to the pictures:
Head Shot
Side Shot

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics - She was more interested in finishing her mouse than posing for the camera.

sweet mate, some lovely looking snakes there.
got a few sunkissed het varieties here, but looking at years before i get anything lol.

Sunkissed with great borders.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would post a couple of post shed pictures of one of the Sunkissed that came out of this clutch. This one has some great borders on her with a killer head pattern. Thanks for looking and I hope you like.

Congrats! Hard to tell from the angle, but do I see white cheeks?! :)

As you can see, this one has some really great "White Cheeks" on it as well. Maybe there is something to this, who knows. If not a genetic trait maybe it is something that could be continued/refined via line breeding. If someone was so inclined to do so.
