ab"normal" stripe - losing her pigment

rusticreptiles

New member
I bought this hatchling stripe in Oct '10.

She looked as normal as they come until a month or so ago I noticed a few gray flecks near her tail. She shed and now she looks like this. As each shed occurs I will add more pictures if there are any changes. First pics will be before the color change. Enjoy. :)
#1 Shortly after Purchase
#2 Taken when she only had two small gray flecks near tail - I didn't think too much of it so didn't photograph it.
#3-#5 Let the speckles/spots begin! :)

There is nothing wrong with her. I've had people come and look as well as Kathy Love, Sean Niland and few others take looks at the closeup photos. It's just something in her DNA that replaces her color in patches with a light gray. Believe me that was the first thing I thought as well. Happy that she is healthy and unique.

I've seen pics of normal stripes that turned grey on the back half. It looks pretty cool, actually, when they're full grown.

You know how people can get freckles that they didn't have when they were babies?
This morph should be called the "reverse freckles"
Nice striped reverse freckles you have there!

@ nwheather, did you see the pics online? I'd love to see the pictures.

@gelshark...reverse freckles...funny! Although that would be a good description. :)

glad to hear thats only somethin genetical goin on!
Very interesting btw havent ever heard about this
phenomenom before!
weird lil striped but very unike all the way!

A few more

Hasn't shed since last set of photos, but there are a few more gray splotches. Can't wait to see what her next shed brings!

No, it was someone local who was rehoming the snake. I'll see if I can find pics. The whole back end of the snake was grey.

April 2011 Post Shed

She shed and now they are dark gray almost black and a few more light gray speckles are coming in all over. Weird little snake.

Woah!!! That is really amazing!

Oh man if this proves genetic it will be awesome!!

It's a shame you don't have access to one of her siblings to breed her with in a few years.

I have her brother :grin01:
They will be bred as soon as they are of age and size. :) Probably not genetic, but fun to see anyways.
