african house snakes v/s corns

How are african house snakes alike or different from corns? Does anyone know? I know they are coulbrids like corns and people call them mini pythons. Here is a link about them!!! They seem alot like corns. I am not going to keep them together I was just wondering if they are alike.

I am asking a simple question and do not want any negative comments from anyone.

Thanks

I've never kept them...but have heard they are VERY easy to deal with...much like a corn in that respect, I guess...

I am picking up one tonight about 20 minutes away so I will let all you know. I like the fact that they require no preps. to breed!!! I aim for easy and fun not hard and a pain. I keep corns, bloods, balls, a bird, 3 dogs and I say corns are even easier than dogs(But not as cute I must admit) but thats just my oppinion.

I got him. Hes even calmer than a hatchling corn. I got him locally and he hasn't even had his first shed or meal yet. He is calm and black with a red belly. I wish these came in the colors of corns and I would start collecting them. I am getting 2 females from the next breeding group. These are the same size as a corn hatchling!!!

Any crazy reason why you would get a snake before it had fed or shed? :shrugs:

well this guy is a breeder of them. He lives right near me I just found out after meeting with me and I got his adress, cell number, home number, and a guarentee that this snake will eat. He is a good guy as I met his wife and kids along with him. Very nice and knowlagable. He says if he won't eat after the first shed he will trade it back for a 1.2 pair. Don't even say he will change his number because no body would do all that over 25$

First off, whats with the whole defensiveness before anyone has even replied?

Even from the way you worded your question, I wouldn't think you'd be keeping them (corns & house snakes) together. Have some water and relax, the world is not out to get you. Trust me.

I too have heard they're a really good snake to get into, if you can find quality breeders of them. And they come in really nice colors, which can be hard to find. I think someone on here breeds them. There's a thread about them in the "General Chit-Chat" section, you should read up on. Its pretty informative.

Personally, I'd be leary of anyone selling "just hatched" snakes, aside from Rich Z. If they were a reputable breeder they would have had babies that had shed and fed. But that's just my opinion. Something just smells fishy here. If this snake doesn't eat, he'll give you a 1.2? :sidestep:

yes basically a promise it will eat. I am going to get 2 females if this snake turns out as good as I hope. He is a really nice guy and even gave me 5 pinks to start with.

I know I personally won't sell a hatchling until after its first shed and at LEAST 3 feedings. Some people are different, but my red flags are going crazy about this. I hope he works out for you, but you may have gotten stuck with a non-feeder that he just couldn't get started. He does seem nice and respectful, but with me, everyone is guilty until proven innocent. Sometimes its a character flaw, but my instinctive paranoia has gotten me out of a lot of would-be problems.

I trust this guy. He gave me a choice between the 6 of the hatch to chose from. All the same size and colors. I don't think that house snakes are that bad of feeders where 6/6 don't eat and are problems. Ball pythons aren't even that bad!!! I trust this guy and if he ripped me off he will be losing a great customer for his kings, corns, milks, and hose snakes I am about to start into. That would be his loss of 10 more sales than mine by getting a bad 25$ snake. Just my trust thing. I only would do something like this locally.

My friend got an africain house snake a while ago... supposedly they are supposed to be voracious eaters but hers was the exception, I guess. It would eat *sometimes* if you left it alone with the pink for a really long time.

They are supposed to be really prolific breeders... so much so that I'm not sure I'd reccommend breeding them unless you know for sure you can do something with the babies? That's not from personal experience, though they do sell at shows for $15 (other morphs might be more expensive, this is what my friend's cost) so they probably are indeed really easy to produce. Probably why this guy is willing to sell them before they've fed or shed, and replace a non-feeder with two or more snakes if it happens not to eat.

It isn't about "you" it is about "him"

I think the point you're missing here is that he didn't exactly show due diligence by selling you snakes that he couldn't certify as good to go. It isn't right to stick you, a paying customer, with any potential problem. Would it have hurt to wait another week or two? :shrugs:

I have a pair of African House snakes and they are great eaters. I have a green phase female and a red phase male. They aren't quite breeding size yet but I can't wait.

1 House snakes are easy to keep!! just like any corn...I've got 4 of them

2 Juveniles do not always accept meals easily, so I don't consider it a good thing to buy very young juvies...

3 questions? pm to me ;)
