I have been comparing the US path to Greece since Greece started to falter. Only there is no economy on the planet large enough to rescue the US. When we hit the edge of the cliff we will take the global economy down.

Half the country wants more entitlements the other half realizes we cant even pay for the entitlements we have now. The 48% paying no taxes and receiving entitlements either don't have the foresight or simply choose to ignore it in wanting more and more. We have a POTUS that engages in class warfare(the rich need to pay their share, even though they pay for almost everything now). The truth is we could take everything the rich have, 100%, and it still wouldn't be enough. We must cut entitlements! The longer we wait to take our medicine the longer and more difficult the recovery will be.

Perhaps homeland security, weather, SSA, etc are buying all that man ammo for the riots that are on the horizon!
 
This is what we get for butting into other countries' business so much I suppose. I don't plan on sticking around here that long, as frankly, I just think the US has several issues about trying to convert older and more experienced countries to their way.

After all, war creates the loss of money and the gain of enemies.
 
Where are you going to go?

Unlike Greece, we are too big to rescue, and will take most or all of the world with us if / when we fail (as already pointed out in a previous post). I think this is scary whether you live in the US or not.

Belguim. And yes, it is scary... In my opinion, this may cause the country to shrink or divide in the far future.
 
Yeah, and watch them claim it is all OUR fault, so WE will be the ones who have to bear the pain, not them.... It will be business as usual for them, I'm sure, while they foist austerity programs and higher taxes on us....

It's not like they didn't see this coming a LONG time ago, and yet they all played like kids in a candy store with FREE candy they took from us to do with as they pleased. They will be like kids laying on the floor with their bellies aching crying "Why didn't YOU stop us?" My guess is that they feel they HAVE to take our guns away before that day because they feel certain we will use them to hunt them down like rabbit dogs. Yeah, now it does make a whole lot of sense why the SSA is stocking up on ammunition. They know what is coming, and it ain't going to be pretty.

Why anyone would want to become a Senator or Representative, much less the POTUS now is completely beyond me. This is a HUGE bag they will be holding when the SHTF.

I agree with you 100% because it is the TRUTH!

Obama is not a stupid man. He knows this too. If he knows that our current path will destroy the USA, then ask yourself why is his policies that exact opposite of what is needed just to stop the bleeding? The only answer you can come up with is he is our 911 from within.

No military power on earth can threaten us, but our debt will surely destroy this great nation. There is no doubt about it. I urge all Americans to vote against a man who obviously does not love this country and is on a path of certain destruction. The only choice this coming election is a vote AGAINST Obama. His policies that will help to speed up our demise must be STOPPED and stopped now.

This coming election is the most important election of our life time. If we do not send Obama back to Chicago, he will continue his current policies that will bankrupt the USA and you can forget about your contraceptives and food stamps. You won't want to have sex when you are starving.

Thank you Kathy for being an educator. Our only hope is to educate the entitlement masses and bring a few of them around, or they/we will learn the hard way and it will be BLOODY.

It COULD be just because he is like every other politician who will do whatever short term ploys most likely to get him / them elected the next time around. The President is not the only one responsible for this misdirection. Congress (and the media) are right up there, too, doing whatever they can to appease the masses TODAY, in order to get elected TOMORROW. After the next election, I doubt any (or many, at least) care too much about what happens next. I can't believe that over 400 members of Congress don't know what is happening, yet they all know it is political suicide to "tell it like it is". But votes are more important than reality. And we voters go complacently along with the whole thing - we are not innocent, either.

Whether the President and Congress knowingly follow this path because of malicious intent or just for votes - or if they really are too stupid and uninformed to see it - doesn't really matter. The conclusion will still be the same if we continue as we are going now. The "medicine" will be a very difficult pill to swallow. But it will be even more bitter if we wait longer to do something about it.
 
I think we have all seen public officials able to generate MILLIONS of dollars for their election or re-election campaign efforts. So tell me, why can't they expend the same amount of effort to generate funds to try to FIX this financial crisis they have gotten us into? Quite frankly, every one in office now quite likely has a huge "war chest" of funds on tap for their re-election, but how many of them have offered to donate this money into the general government treasury? Some of them apparently have rather sizeable personal fortunes. How many of these people have truly sacrificed ANYTHING at all to help? Sorry, but if (when?) they start making noises about us having to sacrifice, let THEM take the lead and show us by example what sort of sacrifice and austerity is necessary to fix the mess THEY got us into.

This "do as we say, not as we do" crap just isn't going to fly if they want to be taken seriously....
 
When I read about all of the Congress Critters getting caught for everything from unpaid parking tickets to not paying their taxes, and all sorts of things in between, I can hardly be surprised that they are not providing good examples in good citizenship for the rest of us. And those are only the antics that we HEAR about! Their actions have made it pretty clear that most of them think they are the elite, and are to make laws for the rest of us to follow, and that they are above those same laws. So I am not expecting much from them, unfortunately. The same goes for the POTUS.

I don't know what the solution is. But the system has gotten to the point that pretty much anyone who CAN get elected, probably SHOULDN'T be elected. When a system is so big, powerful, and handles as much money as the federal gov't, it is way too easy to hide "a little" (which is a LOT for individual people and projects) and siphon it off to special interests. Unless the gov't becomes MUCH smaller, less powerful, and handles a lot less money, I don't see how it can do anything besides become more corrupt.

I think we are in for a rough ride no matter who gets elected. It will be a scary time to face retirement years - or raising a family, or anything else, I guess.
