i have one snake is noisy breathing, my terrariums are on top of each other
wonder if the snake is ill the others that are in terrariums or other in the same room may stay with the same problem

I would recommend a vet visit for the one with the respiratory infection. I would also call the vet and see what the charge difference would be for two snakes versus one. Usually with animals like that, it isn't much of a difference. I used to bring in my three parakeets, and the vet only charged me once for the office visit. I think most RIs are bacterial (maybe?) so make sure you're cleaning/disinfecting anything and everything that could transfer between the snakes including your hands. Soap and water is much better than hand sanitizer.

If you can bring both snakes in for not much difference in cost, put them in separate containers and take them both in. If not, take the one with the heavy breathing and keep a close eye on the other guy.

I don't actually know much about RIs, but I do know that you need to see a vet ASAP.

Is the snake getting ready to shed? They can also have breathing sounds when they are shedding. How long has the breathing problem been going on? From what I understand, there is also mucus when there is a respiratory infection is going on, but I don't know how long it takes for the mucus to show up. Hopefully someone who knows some more can advise you.

True, true. Totally spaced on that one. I haven't slept.:awcrap:

I know there is a language barrier, but when I dissect this statement in my head, I can't help but think you're housing multiple snakes in the same terrarium. Just to get a better idea of the situation, is this true?

What sort of noise are you hearing? Is it consistent? Is the snake sneezing, gaping its mouth open, or showing other signs of infection?

If the noisy breathing is actually caused by an upper respiratory infection (URI), there are several things you can do to help the snake. Make sure the viv is as dry as possible; no humid hides and a very small water dish, washed out 2X daily. Increase temperatures to the upper 80's F, nearly 90. Be SURE that the snake has a way to get away from temps that are too high, though. This isn't a recommendation to avoid a vet visit, but sometimes a dry environment and a temperature boost are all that an animal needs to recover. URIs do need to be taken seriously, as snakes have only one full-size, working lung and can get very ill very fast from respiratory issues.

Yes, URIs are often contagious. Handle the affected animal last, and wash your hands and arms thoroughly to minimize any cross contamination. If you can, I'd actually move the healthy one's viv to another place just to be safe. You don't want to cause any more stress to the sick one, and moving is stressful for territorial animals.

Hope things improve soon. Let us know how things go.
