12600, you may want to broaden your horizons a bit because I can tell you - you're missing out.
And I'm not talking about Minecraft. I mean, I just put together an i7-2600K with 16GB of RAM, a sound card with Dolby Digital Live for on the fly digital encoding for surround through my digital home theater and a GTX570 overclocked hooked up to my 42" HDTV. BF3 looks totally awesome on it.
And I put probably 10 or 20 hours into minecraft for every one of BF3.
Look, I'm an oldschool PC enthusiast. I grew up in the golden age of Shareware with games like Wolfenstein 3D, Secret Agent Man, Scorched Earth, Solar Winds, One Must Fall 2097, etc. I don't consider someone a gamer unless they assembled their computer themselves. I try to keep my computer bleeding edge without breaking the bank every year or two.
And you know what? Most of the AAA titles out there with the kick your in the face graphical fidelity don't hold a candle to the sheer fun of so many classic games. Hell, I still go back and play the original X-Com all the time even though it was made in the era of 256 colors and 320x200 resolutions.
I say you're missing out because with the rising success of Steam there's a massive wave of new indie developers who are breaking new ground. They aren't working with multi-million dollar budgets and their staff is maybe a couple guys in their mom's basement, but some of those games are so incredible that I'd rather my bleeding edge computer run that than Modern Warfare 3 (Which I am totally taking a pass on.)
Graphics are only a single facet of gaming, and the most superficial. There's a whole world of amazing games out there that cost <$5 and are the most fun you can have on your computer.
