My baby savannah monitor is about 6'' or 5'', I got him 2 days ago and is always sleeping... is not active and yesterday he eat 1 cricket and today he dont want to eat... he got asleep with the crickets on his face!! what should I do?? is this normal?

I know it is a bit small.. but he is like 5" (counting the tail) so is just for a few time, i will get a Big terrarium :)

Did you ever think to even Google a basic care sheet? It's the least you could have done. Your hottest spot is 40 freaking degrees too cool! Do you know the lighting requirements? You need to do some real research...

The basking spot should be 130F. Nobody is blaming you... it's just that the fact that you're not taking proper care of it.. kind of. Try to read that care sheet and re-check your husbandry.

No, you're here to get help. But you're bound to be blamed when you're the wrong for your bad husbandry, which could be detrimental to the welfare of your animal. We all love animals here, so people are bound to be annoyed when someone such as yourself comes on here with absolutely no idea.

As Dean (Roy Munson) said, how hard is it to spend maybe half an hour doing some good research before buying? Or even as soon as you get home, though I wouldn't condone that.

Yes that is too cold a basking spot. 130F should be available on an elevated basking spot.

Research, buy books, do whatever to ensure that this animal gets a good life.

well sorry then, i'm here just for help and believe me, i'm trying to do the best, and the guy who give it to me the savannah, was for free, and was my fault to be kind of disorientate, and I was thinkin that the savannah is maybe sick so I bought some calcium and I came to this Forums for help, maybe the savannah is new to me, but I really dont want nothing bad to happen :(

Sorry for my bad english :S

One you have an animal that is illegal to own in your country as you stated, this is very bad and if you are caught you can get into deep trouble.
Now if this animal ever gets sick, you can not properly take care of it by taking it to a vet. They would have to put the animal down.

2. You will need to get that animal in a larger cage with plenty of hide spots and warm it up.
Read those care sheets, and go to the Monitor forums at Kingsnake.
They should be able to help you more there than here.

Also, do not mention you live in PR if your bright.

The Savannah is on calci-sand right now, but it is good Pine Shavings? the ambient temperature is 91-93, and the basking spot have a heating pad right now, and I dont know the exactly Temperature, until i get a good Heating Light, and he still always sleeping, is that normal? he poop today, and I give him a cricket and he get to sleep....
