NEW PIX...

Last night I took little mr no name (as of yet!) out so that the Mister could see him for the first time. I know the little guy is still getting used to things and when I took him out he assumed his most fearsome strike position, aimed his opened mouth ferociously at my thumb and rattled his itty, bitty tail in my hand (so cute. lol!).

We are enamored with this guy. He has so many different markings and patterns, that we STILL can not decide on a name. We were thinking of "Masquerade" because he has leopard markings, cheetah markings, Batman-like markings, at least two different 'faces' on his head, AND he looks like Disney's Maleficent is his Momma! Maybe you'd help us please with name suggestions? That would be greatly appreciated!

He is one seriously nice looking baby!

How about Chimera? Im really bad with name suggestions. Heck, several of my snakes went 6 months or more without names!

Meet "Big Cat"

Between his multiple big cat type markings (Cheetah eye lines, Leopard style spots, and whisker looking mouth markings, along with his Tiger attitude (I've handled him 3 times now, and two of those times he was all tail rattling, hissing, open mouthed, strike pose, and striking...quite accurately I might add), I've decided to name him "Big Cat".
Here's my evil little hate-ling just after the bite!

Ooooohhh, I DO wish you hadn't posted that last pic. I might have nightmares tonight! :D

What a fierce cutie pie he is!

I wanted to say something until I read further through the thread... I see that Don had said "okeetee" rather okeetee.. I was trying to figure out what was being passed off..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

Surprise Mom!!!

The little stinker caught me completely by surprise when I found a full, clean, tip of tail to eye caps shed in his Viv just now!
Here's his shed and a handsome 'after' shot, and a full belly

Wow, if this is just the start of the project, I can't wait to see what Don produces in years to come!

I don't know if I would personally call this snake Banded just because it seems like his lower pattern doesn't full connect to the side pattern (towards the end), but I am a stickler about what I name as Banded.

Uh oh, here come the morph police! :smash:

I'm sure the look will get better and better as the years go on though. I sure know what I'm going to be putting on my next year's want list.

Anyway, Big Cat looks great after this last shed!

That is a very cool looking corn, Okeetee Mom. Don did good with that one.

I have to tell you it reminds me of the Russian ratsnakes, Elaphe schrencki, I used to breed...similar dark markings. I'll see if I can come up with a pic later.

Very nice...

Jessica, Terry and Heather...

I honestly love this little man. Thank you for your compliments to him. I only wish he could understand! LOL. I look forward to seeing some pix Terry, as well as watching my little "Big Cat "as he grows! ROAR ;)

It was a long time ago that I kept the Russians and it was really just the juves that looked like Big Cat. Here's one pic I managed to scrounge up from the depths of my computer files....

Not the greatest pic, but will give you the idea of what I was thinking of.

Big Cat is pretty awesome looking. Keep us posted on his progress. I'd like to know more about the morph too...

Nice snake Tina! I love that last pic after his shed. I really need to get a Charcoal too, to go with my female who is het Charcoal and Sunkissed. Good luck with that guy, and post more oics as he grows.

Terry, that is one seriously gorgeous snake! I'll have to do some searches on those.

This was one of the first Asian ratsnakes I owned and bred back in the early 80's. These were extremely interesting and great pets, except for two major drawbacks. They get really big, near six ft., and they tend to want a long hibernation. I have since limited the size of the snakes I get and also am really into snakes that don't need much brumation. Doesn't help reduce the numbers that much, but I can manage my collection better this way.

Corn snakes fit my requirements for a pet snake pretty well, and heaven help me, I think I'm starting to get hooked. I hope I don't get out of line with new snakes. Corns have way more variety in color/pattern and morphs than I remember from yrs. past. One thing I'm not fond of is that some forms get quite large. I love the Okeetees, but they tend to get pretty big. I've actually field herped for those before in S.C.

You have good taste, Tina. Keep it up... :spinner:
