im going to all the colubrid forms hoping to get some personal stories of keeping beauty snakes .i have a chinese/taiwanese beauty (Elaphe Taeniura taeniura) i just got (about 4 feet and she isnt even a year yet!!!) and i am having a hell of a time finding much info, i have a caresheet that i used for my setup and basically what the breeder told me about them, however i havent read anyone talking about a beauty snake anywhere...if anyone has one i'd love to hear how your experience with this type of snake. i have mine for a week now and she is the sweetest/fastest snake ive ever handled!! anyways i know this is probably gonna get deleted but email me if you have something you'd like to share.

I've got 2.4 Blue Beauties. They are rather mellow and have never tried to bite me. I have a friend that has 1.3 Blue Beauties of a rather different disposition. I actually picked up the 8 foot female for him at a show (talk about a handful). It was then I decided that I wanted to get some.

You could also try over at Fauna Ratsnakes Discussion Forum:

I own 1.1 Cave Dwellers and 1.1 Cave Dweller X Tiawan Intergrades. I'll try and get pics later!

great thanks alot everyone, do you handle them alot i got mine a week ago and she has eaten a large meal since got her, and i handle her 4-5 times a day for 20 minutes at a time, this is my first big snake so i want her to be as familiar with me as i can possibly make her, how are their bites i imagine quite strong eh. i have 2 corns as well, so that is what i mean by my first big snake, over 4-5 feet. thanks again and anything you think might be good to know so i dont have to find out the hard way would be appreciated lol!! ill post a pic probably tommorow, i cant believe more people dont collect these they must be somewhat hard to breed i geuss, that is what one site i read had said. thanks again

They're fairly common in the UK and not at all difficult to breed. This boy has been in my family for about five years previously belonging to my parents but recently moved in with me where he's enjoying being the centre of attention in my living room. There aren't many care sheets available for them or anything like that but we have found, through our own experiences, that they prefer cooler temperatures than corns. If they're kept in favourable conditions then they're lovely natured snakes and certainly beautiful.

thanks tanya , i was a bit iffy this being my first snake larger than a corn, and mine is a taiwanese as well so it is gnna be signifigantly bigger than my 2 corns. thanks for the reassurance i was hoping i would get feedback like this!!thanks again great collection btw tanya.

thanks ill try and get pics today

wow nice pics, mine just and i mean just ate a full adult mouse @less than a year old and i cant even tell, what did you feed your snakes at around a year old and 4 feet long??? i dont want to under feed her!

I had some but I just had some computer problems and they were lost. I'll try and take a few in a little bit.

good to know lee, i was just about to do an order, ill change all my adult mice to equal size rats, how big would a weaner rat be about the size of an adult mice???btw great pics its nice to know there are other people who enjoy them as much as me, i cant believe not more people have them!!! thanks again

theyre roughly about the same size but if it isn't leaving much of a bulge try small rats but rats are more bulkier than mice so much better in my opinion, all my ratsnakes and boids are on rats as soon as theyre big enough to take them as its easier when younger as some can be a bit reluctant when older
yeah i got my first pair last year and my small pair a few weeks ago and now im hooked on asian ratsnakes, got 4 as previously said but definately want blue beauties, cave ratsnakes etc
do you have any pics of yours you could show?
lee
