body piercings anyone?

For my tongue piercing I was paranoid, so I used Listerine cut with water, and I never had a problem. I'd either do that for the inside and then a salt water solution for the outer area or just dab Listerine on the outside as well. I've had friends who's lip rings have gotten infected and caused them to be rejected and it's disgusting...

Yes, that is one of my sons, Devlin. Goodnight & Happy New Year.

Lore, I'm sending you the bill for my keyboard, which I just spit orange pop onto (via the nose) due to that picture. :crazy02:

As for piercings, I have 4 in my ears and my naval. My main problem with lots of piercings is that you can't get certain jobs or work in certain fields, especially with face piercings. Thus, I'm generally a fan of other stuff you can hide.

LOL! And that's pretty much his attitude to the world even now at 3 years old :grin01:

Of course I'd like him to have minimal piercings, a few tattoo's and of course a nice ol' MOM tattoo  :grin01:

I have had a ton of piercings in my life. Nostril, eyebrows, cartilege, industrials, septum, labrette, conch, tongue, "other places"....

These days, however, I am down to just a couple. I have a 5/8" tunnel in my left ear that I've had for about 15 years, an 6gauge in my tongue that I've had for more than 10 years, and a 6gauge in my...well...elsewhere, let's say, that's been there for around 8 years.

And I have about 13 tattoos...

What can I say...I lived above and worked in a shop for a few years...

Wow, it's great to see how many people replied to my post. Thanks for all the tips guys and have a happy new year.

Oh, and...saltwater or betadine solution (50/50 with warm water is good) are the best ways to keep a fresh piercing clean without drying it out and slowing the healing process. Hydrogen Peroxide is bad for drying out your "wound", and rubbing alcohol is even worse. I don't recommend a triple-antibiotic ointment(such as neosporin) because being a cream or paste, it can cause problems by allowing particles of dust and other debris to literally "cling" to the wound site, and cause later infections.

The easiest and most sterile way to clean a new piercing is to coat the jewelry with betadine solution and then rotate the jewelry so that the betadine enters the piercing. Trying to coat the piercing itself with a Q-tip or something can cause fibers from the cotton to get trapped in the piercing and cause HUGE problems later on. Just use a Q-tip to coat the jewelry itself, and then turn or rotate the jewelry so that the solution enters the piercing.

Sea salt is the absolute best to clean with.

It feels very good too, especially on your lip. I have a "snake bite", a lip piercing on both sides of my mouth. I got both sides done at the same time. Soaking my lip in warm water mixed with Sea Salt was very soothing. If you didn't get sea salt along with your piercing go back to the shop and ask for some. They should give it to you on the house.

Hey, any pics of your new piercings? Hehe, if you want to wait a month or so that's understandable. Gotta get past that "yea, obviously just got my lip pierced" phase. ;)

Thats so true; I had the same exact set of piercings, I just wish I knew about the sea salt when I got them. Using antibacterial soap for the outside dried it out so horrible.

I think maybe people read into it too much when I said "other stuff." I was generally going for tattoos. :)

Is this seriously you? I seen this person on tv I think. Most piercings or somthing on Guiness world records.

I will put a pic of my piercing on in a few days its basically not swollen or bad looking or anything. What about everyone else? Lets see some pictures guys.

Iv got sooo many ear piercings... The only ones I currently wear are my tragus and industrial... I need to take everything out for work except those two ;)

I had a double navel for a long time - then it got annoying. Iv had surface peircings on the back of my neck - now I just have the tattoo there :p

Iv went off piercing and gotten into tats.

I'm getting my eyebrow peirced next month for my birthday, and on my eighteenth birthday I'm going to get a tattoo of a black ratsnake winding it's way down my right calf.

for lip/tongue lots of people- including myself- recommend using mouth wash a few times daily for the first two weeks along with whichever other method you use. mouth wash is pretty convenient and cleans well

Gargling with salt water is actually easier on a tongue piercing than mouthwash is, unless you cut the mouthwash AT LEAST 50% with warm water. There is too much alcohol in most mouthwash which can dry out the piercing and cause scarring or infection. It also slows down the healing process.

Ya, when I got my tongue pierced... 10 years ago :eek1: , I carried around a bottle of the icky tasting yellow Listeriene and used it every time I ate anything, smoked etc for the first few days.

To this day when I smell the yellow (original) Listerene it brings back memories of having just gotten my tongue pierced...

meeemoooriesssss... ya I'm over it.

Now I'm on to being excited about the tattoo arm piece I'm getting done in the beginning of march :crazy02:
