Bubblegum?

im not quite sure, just looks like a very pink snow to me, but it is labled as bubblegum...what do yall think?

Bubblegum.jpg

thank you experts!! :)

It could just be very pink, but I have had some Snow hatchlings from Bubblegums that were not nearly as pink as others.

It is possible to get normal looking Snows from a "Not so strong" Bubblegum line. In mine, the father is VERY pink, but the mother is only slightly above average pink, so the hatchlings can be a mix from extreme to average. In that case, if using this one for a Bubblegum breeding project to get extremely pink offspring, you may not want to use a not so pink snake.

Though, who knows, it could get darker with age. I have noticed too that males usually have much more vibrant pinks than females. Is this a female?

Thanks for the quick response, i was told that the father is a reverse okeetee, and the mother is "very pink and white." But they are in hibernation at the moment so no pics. i dont know what you cross to get bubblegums, maybe this is just an ordinary snow, :shrugs: and I do not know what the sex of this little one is, but i am soon to find out =)

From what I've always understood Bubblegums are a specific line bred Snow.

The snake you have would have to have come from Bubblegums to be considered a Bubblegum. If it turns out to be extremely pink you could breed it exclusively to other extremely pink Snows. If those offspring, after several generations, are produced with "brighter and deeper than average" pinks then you can say that you have line bred it to produce Bubblegums. It would have contributed to the line, but only the generations born with extreme pinks could be considered Bubblegums.

I do believe, with all line bred corns, both parents have to be the same morph for it to be called by that name (ie. Cotton Candy, Neon, Bubblegum, Champagne, Florescent...).

But, if anyone objects, then please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the info...it seemed a little iffy to me that that particular snake is a true bubblegum, but who knows..lol

She does look alot more pink then most of the snows I see so she should at least be more pink than most.. She is pretty though.. I have a snow who has not so striking markings and only a little faint peach/pink in the first few circles by her head and she was labeled as a high pink..

ok, i just got some new pics of the two females left, here they are =)

lol i cant even decide which one i like better if i were to get one!
what do ya'll think? they r pretty pink. hehe :)

I like the first one because of the circles, but the 2nd one has a more unique pattern... Hmmm? Choices huh.. Choose whichever one speaks to you the most... They are both very pretty though...

I know i cant decide either, lol! I also like the unique pattern, but i think i like the first ones circles better, but i think the 2nd one is more pink..? :shrugs:

I would personally (if I were choosing between the two you've posted) go for the second one.

Why?

Because the second one doesn't have the "twig 'n' berries" head marking.

What a relief to find out that I'm not the only one who thought that!

Back to the topic, though...

Alexis: just curious, how old are the two females in the pics you posted? Only reason I ask is that my snow was much pinker as a hatchling than he is now. It seems he's becoming less pink after each shed.

They were hatched in july. Do you have a bubblegum snow? what does it look like now? thx :)

My little guy is not a bubblegum... just a regular snow. But he was REALLY pink at first (it's fading with each shed).

I don't know anything about bubblegums... do they get pinker as they age or can they easily be identified as hatchlings?

I honestly dont know, and im not sure if im going to get them now because the father is a reverse okeetee. If i find some hachlings that are nice that have beautiful bubblegum parents, (depending on the price ;) i might get them, heh. I remember seeing osmeone on here who has AMAZING adult bubblegum's and had hachlings for sale a while ago, but i dont remember who :shrugs:

Remember, just because a snow is really pink as a hatchling, doesn't mean it will stay pink as an adult. Here is my snow as a hatchling:

And here she is as a 2 1/2 year old:

The best way to estimate what the hatchling will look like is to look at the parents. If they are really pink still, then the baby has a better chance of staying pink as it grows.

Right, thanks for the pics. I was thinking that, and he didnt have pics of the parents cuz their in brum, soo....lol.
nice snow b/t/w

I find it extremely odd that he says he can't show you pictures of the parents because they are in brumation. To me, that's a red flag. It seems that he just doesn't want you to see what they look like. I mean, most people have tons of pictures of their snakes.

I agree, seems odd for a breeder not to have photo's of their breeding stock. :shrugs:
