Well.. got these guys from rich's 70% off sale, like many others did! From what i saw of them before putting them away, they looked great! The male is a little bigger than the female is right now.. also the make has the more broken up pattern..

Thanks again rich!!

ENJOY :)

Wow, I really like your male! Very pretty! :) I just got my pair today too, my female is a little bigger than my male, both with very nice stripes.

Congrats on the new additions!!!

Nice looking, butter stripes. They always are, but it is hard to imagine those things were $300 (I think) last year. I would hate to be one of the people who bought those over the last two years with the intent of selling them for any decent money. Again, nice snakes but I just can't believe the market was crashed so fast and hard on them. I would have imagined it would have came down a little at a time, oh well.

They're still priced that price normally. Just Rich had a massive cleaning sale. It's hard to say no to 70% discounts on...well anything!

They may show up on price list for $299.00 but that doesn't mean they'll sell for that. No that the price has been established at $90, why would people pay $299? They can simply wait til the "original" price comes down again. I am not looking to produce any, just my observation on it.

For the same reason I pay full price for candy , when all i have to do is wait until the day after halloween and get it all for 75% off.

This was a one time price reduction for him to make room for incoming hatchlings. I wouldn't hold my breath every year for it, especially if I was looking for a specific morph. Note that every 08 he had left was 70% off, not just the butter stripes. I don't expect to see a 70% cut in all those morphs any time soon.

thanks for the compliments. :)

Well i was talking to a person that has owns/breeds reptiles in Minnesota (i got my spider from her) and she seemed to think that butter stripes were defiantly not worth 300... (she's not a corn person, she didn't think there was any morph that was worth as much as an albino BP..) there was ONE ad on kingsnake.com that had them for like 100 each, and 225 shipped, or something along those lines... the price of the morph may go down some, but its defiantly not going to take that big of a leap.

and BTW.. not everybody in the herp world knows about rich and his 70% off sale :)

Seen the new 2009 Serpenco price list? Still feel confident in your post? Doesn't look like a "one time price reduction" now does it? I stand on my position that the price of butter stripes and numerous other morphs for that matter are now officially crashed. Rich has nearly 5000 hatchlings to sell soon, he has made it clear that he is not going to work with these; the prices will be wholesale prices. That is his prerogative, nothing anyone can do about it, but it does mean that all of those who were working on the higher end morphs and those others who make their living or a nice supplemental source of income on these corns are now in for a rough ride. Think about SMR or Bayou (I am speaking on my thoughts, they may disagree with me). They sell these for a living but they do not produce the numbers Rich does. How can they expect people to pay them $300 or even $200 for a butter stripe or whatever, when you can get it from Serpenco for $100.00? I really wonder if they will survive over the next 1-2 breeding seasons. I hope I am wrong!

Also, your argument on Halloween candy doesn’t really hold water in my opinion. If a bag of candy is normally $3.00 and you get it at .90 after Halloween, then you saved $2.10, big deal, heck almost every home can scrape together $3.00 to buy a bag of candy. If the prices for butter stripes went back to $300, that is now an additional $210 out of a person’s pocket, there is a big difference in spending an additional $210 versus $2.10. Comparing Halloween candy discounts to the “discounts” we are seeing on corns is like comparing watermelons to grapes or better yet, bb’s to hot air balloons. The real difference is the economy, things are bad for a lot of people, they aren’t apt to spend $300 on things we don’t have to have, and most people are spending money on what is necessary.

Again, I hope I am wrong, but in this case I just do not think I am, we’ll see over the next 2 years I guess.

I'm insanely jealous of your new additions! Butter stripes are at the VERY TOP of my corn-want list! :D Yours look SUPER! Congrats!!!

i payed $70 for an 08 butter stripe last year so deals are out there and I have seen them on ks for $90 this year. So ya the price has dropped.

sorry didn't think they would go down that much.. whatever..hopefully the market will level itself out in time..

thanks EmJagsz! (sorry cant remember how to spell your real name:))

Just out of curiosity, how many people do you know that were still able to sell Butter Stripes for $300?
