Cage and co habbing q

kel37211

I has Cheezeburger????!!!
Is a 55 Gal tank big enough to hold 2, 3 foot long snakes?
and is co habbing even a good idea, ones male ones female, been living together for like 2 years

My feeling is...
If you have to ask you should do it!!
I think you need years of experince before attempting to do it and even then I would think again.

Do a search on cohab.

do a search for co-habbing on this forum, you'll come up with plenty of threads.

Oops
I got to check my post more often..
If you have to ask you should do it!!

I meant..shouldn't

I agree with Lennycorn in that you probably do not have the experience to do so and should learn safer ways first and be politically correct with this forum.

To answer your question, yes a 55 gallon tank is big enough for two corn snakes. They will probably spend most of their time together in one hide, but several hides should be provided.

Feeding is the biggest problem. they should be separated. I have had several display cages with multiple snakes over the years and if you leave them together, they have to be watched constantly to make sure both snakes don't try feeding on the same food item.

Of course the other problem housing a pair together will be the surprise clutch of eggs that you have to be prepared for.

There are other smaller problems, but those are the two biggest.

All the inexperienced hobbyists here will be against any of this, but then they are inexperienced!
