Cat-proofing

Becky, that X-mat is a must have for me, thanks for posting that link. I have 1 cat in particular that has been broken with the spray bottle as each new snake viv has been introduced into the house. I break her from a snakes viv, I get a new snake and the turkey moves on to that one! Currently she thinks the new BP's viv top is her bed ...GRRRR... I would have no problem with finding her a new home but my 5yr old little guy is in love with her, so, *sighs* I guess she stays.

My mom's one cat, Duchess, used to sit and stare into the Viv for ages!!! She would focus on a point where she thought the snake was, even though he was usually somewhere else...lol Non of the other cats gave a hoot! lol

My viv is made of solid wood with sliding glass doors, so there is no way the cats can get in there! lol (The doors are held closed by tight elastic bands! Brilliant, whoever came up with the idea! lol)

Expecting a swarm of kittens (we have TWO pregnant cats) soon so will have to see how they react to the snakes... :crazy02:

What about a metal screen lid? I use them and never have to worry. I think that I could probably stand on it if the glass tank wouldn't colapse.

Placed on top of an aquarium tank, heavyweight metal screen cover creates total security for your small animals, reptiles, or amphibians. Endures high temperatures from heating devices--making it perfect for use with reptiles. Made with galvanized wire, then powder coated for extra protection. For added protection, use Four Paws Tank Top Screen Cover Security Clips.

Well, the table's going to wobble no matter what I put on the viv. At least she can't see in from up there (unless she looks over the edge) and he can't see her (unless some part of her dangles down).

Mi-ke's not noticed him much. She only sits on the viv because it's a nice place to sit and because she follows me around, so if I'm looking in the viv, she comes in and sits near me. Severus had noticed her, though. I don't think he likes the looks of her. He seems to handle me a little better.

I have that same screen lid, and my cat bows that thing down like its going to break. She weighs about 15 pounds, so that's no help either. With the X-mat, she at least knows better. It doens't stop her from looking at the tanks, but she won't jump on them anymore.
