Ahoi to that!

But just to let you blokes know, Clumsy is out, trying to delete his account and whatnot!

"The biggest mistake made bu man is taking knowledge for granted"

Oh my...

I didn't like what he was doing but I don't think he should go.
(unless he was doing to annoy)

I can't remember his profile exactly but I think we all just ganged up on a 13 year old kid.

So what?

If he is 13 then his parents should not allow him to converse on the internet without supervision unless he is well spoken, polite and follows internet rules of ettiqute (sp)

If he is 13 and his parents don't care what he does on the internet, then maybe this will teach him a lesson in internet manners.

*sigh*

Well, Bmm, you're right.
But I do feel a little bad. I think his lesson can be learned without leaving the forum altogether.

I wouldn't worry much about it. Most of the time people who say they are leaving because they got their feelings hurt are back in a little while. It may be that clumsly will reregister and post under a new name, though. Even so, I'd say he'll be back.

Unless the spelling improves, it won't be hard to spot the new "member". :)

Holy cow! Batman! lol Well, not quite...

I take back all my defense against clumsly! I was just informed of the disrespectful private msgs he was sending to some people! lol
and to that I give a mighty BEAT IT KID!!! lol

and if a new member comes on posting non-stop posts we all know who it is.......our worst nightmare....(insert horror music here) lol

LOL

ahhhhhhh that was funny LMAO!!:D

But if "clumsly" would come back... like said above, the signs would be REALLY obvious lol

Kristy:)

The day Clumsly has another cornsnake question and crawls back to this forum on his knees, he'll remember and understand my sig...

-Lemur 6

clumsly emailed me two times...*sigh* I couldnt understand a word he was saying, but im pretty sure he was insulting some advice I gave. I didnt even read the second one, I was already too dizzy....:D

STOP!!!

You know what??? I think you are being to harsh. How else does a child learn but by making mistakes? If I berated my 14 year old daughter every time she made a mistake, then I would be a horrible parent and she would be a miserable child; who would most likely grow into a miserable adult.

Yes. I agree that clumsey's posts aren't always easy to understand or even always right. I agree that he needs to work on his spelling. I agree that he needs to try to make more of an effort to post information that is correct and helpful, but this forum is here to help EVERYONE...not just well educated, well spoken people.

Give him a break! Show him the error of his ways, and try to help him change. You can't just "squash" a child under your thumb like he (or she) is a bug! Children have to be nutured. If you guys don't have the time or energy to help others (even if they get on your nerves) then maybe you shouldn't be posting here.

Just my opinion...

I agree with everything you said but....

*We* are NOT his parents!!!! His parents should be monitering his internet usage if he is indeed 13. I agree with everything you said for PARENTS. Not everyday joes who are being harassed by someones child.

I have NO obligation to accept bad behaviour, bad emails from another persons child. Period. It is not our responsibility to teach him to have manners on forums, nor is it our responsibility to teach him to spell. These are ALL things his PARENTS should be monitering.

This person has emailed people rude things and insults. Again, I have no time to be "parent" to him, nor do I wish too. His parents should not be allowing their 13 year old unlimited acsess to EMAIL! cripes ! :)

Frankly, unless they have a parent, I don't believe ANY child should be allowed on ANY forum. Period. I have time to help and teach people, but I do not have time to help someone else raise their child with manners and spelling. I know it sounds harsh but this is an internet forum for Cornsnakes. Not romper room.

Just my Humble opinion. Seriously. No one be offended. LOL :D

corncrazy-- Im pretty sure he is older than me, and I havent acted like that since I was about 6. And I learn much faster (as a child) by being "squashed like a bug" rather than nutured.

either way clumsly has made it loud and clear he plans on leaving the forums. Who are we to talk about how he should be raised? he claims to be same the age as me and even though he is quite, well annoying it almost seems like you are coming down on his parents now. lol..i know you guys probably aren't and will be quick to reply that you weren't but just reading these posts it seems like you are bashing his parents for their son being...well obnoxious. anyway so basically what i wanted to get through in this post is clumsly has started threads that he wants to delete his account he knows he's not welcome by most people in this forum so he is making a very public effort to leave ( i guess he goes out the way he came in). so he's leaving..for now so lets all enjoy reading new posts and such and not having to deal with two month old + posts being brought up again, with just the same information repeated...oh that brings up another question i was wondering, since clumsly is just repeating earlier posts why can't he repeat the correct spelling?

Actually, I was stating the fact that parents should not allow a 13 year old to email, and browse the internet without supervision.

And I was also stating the fact that the general public isn't responsible to tell Clumsy how to behave, as his parents should have never let him post such things online anyways. (the emails and the posts)

But yeah he is leaving now and hopefully he will learn how to address people, and his parents will put some restrictions on his email and internet use.

IMHO again. :)

a week ago or so clumsly PMed me saying "i am 15 and you are too, isn't that ironic"..i was under the impression he was 15 either way it doesn't matter lol. just to clear up my position. i think that there is nothing wrong with posting but it does come off as annoying when a person posts what others have said on a thread that has been inactive for a long time. and i wasn't accusing anyone of blaming his parents or anything like that in my previous post, just to make sure no one thinks i was!:)

Yeah, clumsly's profile says he's 15. I don't think he has to go...maybe he'll get the hang of the board. But what seems like posting for the sake of posting does get a little tiresome after a while...(and bringing up old posts distracts from newer posts that genuinly need help)

bmm...

I agree that a 15 year old should not be allowed "free access" to the internet and e-mail. That is exactly why my daughter is NOT allowed to use her e-mail address anymore. Even with supervision, she managed to defy my rules regarding it. The e-mail account is now disabled to her.

I ALSO agree that it is his parent's responsibility to raise him, but as mature, responsible adults...we are supposed to act that way. Berating him won't solve anything. It will just hurt and anger him, and cause more damage in the long run.

Basically what I am getting at is that there are better ways of dealing with children than what I see happening in this thread.

Clumsey, if you are reading this, please take it to heart and learn from it. What people want from this forum is a place where they can come and get useful information that will help them become better, more experienced "herp-hobbyists." When the forum is cluttered by a bunch of chatter, it is hard to dig past it to what's important. If you decide to not leave the forum, then please try to post well written, knowledgable posts. If you do not know the answer to someones question, then please do not copy someone else's answer or make up an answer. It is better to not post at all than to post misleading info. Take this opportunity (the forum) to learn from other people's knowledge and hopefully one day YOU may grow into being a knowlegable herper as well.

WOW!

I leave the board for two weeks and miss so much! Let me start by saying I've read (and been annoyed by) the kids' posts, too. I suppose we can either police ourselves (like clumsly just had happen to him) or suggest Rich go another route... Forward him every answer that seems repetitive or wrong, request that he make senority based on times logged in versus posts, have the members decide by way of vote who has intelligent input, etc. But, c'mon, the guy has snakes to raise!
All systems are imperfect. I remember reading a post saying "I just throw in a frozen mouse, the snake eats it and lays on the heat pad" once! You have to expect some bad advice and possibly pranks. Report them if it's out of hand, otherwise, just correct them by replying with a proper answer. There are some very experienced herpers on this forum. I've kept and bred snakes for almost 20 years and I have learned from you. I think the hobby will be better off if we break from the idea of following books and care sheets to the letter. Experiment! Try new techniques! That is how we got the methods we have now.
