ok, im getting one next sunday. ive got a 29 gal aquarium. what all am i going to need as far as substrate. and for heat. if anyone could direct me to a good site that is just about them. or if anyone on here has some hit me up and let me see some pics of your setup.

Hi, it really yanks my chain that your girlfriend won't let you get a harmless little cornsnake. But, eh, you've got to start somewhere, and i guess crested geckos are a start. Anyway, you should try to talk to a lady on this forum named "sircat" . She breeds them. Here is her website... I hope she doesn't mind.

actually that site is pretty good for all things reptile, so go check it out.
Good luck!

yeh trust me i really really wanted a corn, but i have to compromize. im hoping she will open up later. and if it was a g/f i would get one anyway. this is my wife that is saying no.

oh and another question. ive noticed that at places like petco and petsmart. they go for around 60 bucks. online i see them going for like 100 on up. whats the diff. and im going to the reptile show next sunday and was wondering about how much to expect one to cost at that. again thanks for all your help and im still going to persist on us getting a corn(i still love them).

Cresties are simple to care for. They don't require heat and or lights. Room temp is fine for them, most people incubate their eggs at room temp as well. As for substrate, you can use anything you would keep a snake on. I have some on aspen, some on paper towels both work fine as well. In my bigger tank i have aspen covering a couple of inches then i take a lot of plastic plants or flowers and pack them in there. Cresties love to climb and hide out in the plants, plus it gives them cover and they feel safer.

I will warn you cresties are very addictive, you can't just stop at one or two...

oh where are you getting yours from?

thanks for the info. im probly getting mine from the reptile show. oh and is there any type of sand that is ok to put them on, or would you recomend aspen or repibark. also, what do you feed them.

As for price, you pay for colors and patterns. Although I have seen some killer ones at petco.

Either reptibark or aspen will work. All depends on which you'd rather look at.

I feed all mine crickets (dusted) and baby food every other day. They love the apricot or pear baby food. I also add in a couple scoups of the crested gecko diet they sell at the petstores. And they seem to love apple sauce as well

how much do you handle them. the lady at the pet store said not to handle them that much because they get stressed out.

I handle them all the time. They are quite jumpy and love to climb. Just wait till you try to get pics of yours. I took about 30 pics of mine last week and out of the 30 I had about 8 that looked good, they just don't sit still. And of course they are most active during the night. They look pretty dull in the afternoon but look awesome once the sun goes down

Sweet Q, I can't wait to get it...Oh guess you weren't talking to me

Anyway i figured I would at least add a pic of my favorite male

I don't have any pics of their enclosure sorry. I have the bigger ones in a Barrs cage that most people would use for GTP's and things like that

Thanks bud. Yeah, I got a couple...hehe. But no million dollar Christmas morphage... :sidestep:

Q

If i ever decide to sell him, I'll do it around Dec. and he will be one billion dollars :grin01:

Now I just hope his babies will look like him :shrugs:

He really isn't worth that, Q and I were chatting one day and we came up with calling him an X-mas morph, we made it up cause he is red and green. And hey the ball python people make up a "new morph" every day so i just wanted to feel special  I'd say that male would sell for about 120-150 on the high end
