Desperate!!!

YAY I think Freya might slowly be getting her appetite back :crazy02:

These are here most recent feeding + med records;

19-12-2006 fuzzie mouse quarter (with Nutribac) TODAY
17-12-2006 medication (levimasol)
16-12-2006 Pinkie mouse half (refused second half)
14-12-2006 1.5 ml cat food syringe and tube
9-12-2006 2 ml kitten milk syringe and tube
7-12-2006 medication (levimasol) AWFUL STINKY
4-12-2006 1.5 ml cat food syringe and tube

I do know that I left little days in sometimes, but in case of the 'real meals' I wanted to take advantage of any sign of interest, and it worked :) The half pinkie I found halfly digested in her poo today, so I thought it might be a good idea to have her eat a tiny meal again to get her system going.

She had a PERFECT shed 2 days ago and ate a piece of rat the size of a large pinky the same afternoon, voluntarily, within 15 minutes of first attempt. At first she seemed interested, slithered away, but seemed excited about the smell in her viv when I left the piece on the newspaper she is on. She did not eat it though. I moved it every couple of mins into the area of her mouth with a tongue and tried to make her chase it, until she ended up going into her hide, which I wanted cause she seems to eat in her hide only now. I put it at her doorstep an she ate it within a couple of minutes indeed :crazy02:

Thanks both! But I'm really gonna drink on it if she eats her first regular sized meal! I'm gonna be really patient going there though.... I never want a regurge from her again.

she ate a cut fuzzie 3 days ago, still inside but still o poo.. last one was 3 of these very small meals ago, I hope she is just waiting for a decent amount now :grin01:

I'm pretty sure she is back on her feet again cause this mornign she had escaped! I have one of her sliding glass doors a jar sometimes cause she has 24 hr warmth for her digestion with slightly higher temps then normal during the day and it seems a good idea to me to circulate air a bit more and give her a chance to cool down an extra bit. So yesterday I set a door a jar and 'locked'it with blu-tack which I always do. Probably the jar was a bit too large cause she was gone this morning. Fortunately I do understand snakes good enough now to not get into panic mode immediately but to think where she could be. I checked around the viv tower, not there.... I know that the viv tower next to hers has a 2 inch elevated bottom, so I shove aside the tower and who was looking at me in disbelief I found her? Yes, Freya! :crazy02: I'm actually a bit happy she showed me that she is back

Thought an update would be nice...

Well, she kept eating fuzzies (and even small hoppers lately) every 5 or 6 days but a couple of weeks after the escape, her poo was runny so I had it tested and it again showed a heavy infestation with strongyloides...... darn!!!!

The vet advised another series of antibio and to obsessively disinfect her viv, but now until poo is tested clean even it would take half a year. I decided to give 3 doses and then have her poo tested again before giving a fourth dose. So Feb 6 I started antibio again and she kept eating during the cure. I must say the disinfecting was at a low level due to serious personal matters that really needed my attention, but I did put her on newspaper again after a thorough disinfection and disinfected after every poo or other stain on it.

Meanwhile I introduced a powder named Digestzymez ('holistic' herbal med for carnivores with pancreatic enzymes), with which I dusted her preys to help her benefit form the nutrients of her preys. It really seems to have helped her digest prey properly, cause since then her poo's kept getting more normal looking, even with the antibio in her body. She also seems to have a progessively better food response since I dust with the enzyme stuff, maybe because it smells nice? (vanilla the label says, but it just smells weird)

March 2 she had her third dose while in blue, today she shed and after not eating for 9 days she just ATTACKED the hopper I wiggled in front of her!!!! She also gained 12 grams instead of losing weight since Jan 27, but if I remember right, she has not yet pooed after her last meal.... At least she did not loose weight... :) :) :)

So, her next poo goes for testing, hope you guys and gals cross your toes and fingers for me ;)

Why is she not getting dewormed with an anti-parasitic? Antibiotics won't kill parasites.

That is great B!

See, I "AM" a snake wisperer... they come out when I am around and Freya gets better and better after my visits ... LOL ... ;)
